I am ALL over the place these days with projects. Not that that’s any different from my usual m.o. but I feel extra multi-tasky. Maybe it’s the thought of the upcoming holidays. (Alicia started it) Maybe I’m giddy with newfound uninterrupted chunks of time since the kids are in school. Dunno. I’ve got a half dozen piles of WIP’s cluttering up the studio and it feels kind of good.
I enjoy this sort of crafting cross-training. Something technical, something repetitive, some problem solving, some computer work, some hand sewing… It’s nice to move on to something else when I get over saturated with one thing. That’s how I was feeling about these Cup O’ Joe Pincushions. I hadn’t made any in ages after cranking them out week after week.
I. just. couldn’t. make. another. So I took a break.
Now here they are again, like an old friend. Just a few. I was going to hold off putting them into the shop until holiday time, but why? Into the shop they go.
My pal Susan reminded me of these acorns from last year and even did her own knitted twist. So off I went, rummaging through my leftover acorn caps and autumn swatchies…I hope to put a few of these in the shop in a week or so. Or maybe some scrap bags so you can make your own? Or kits? (see, there I go…jumping all over the place)
Yes, and then there’s this felty stack of pre-holiday crafting…oooh, it may be 92 degree outside today, but I’m channeling snowflakes and fireplaces when I work on these. Can you tell what they are? I’m shooting for mid-October to put them into the shop. Or maybe sooner, who knows about me? I am unpredictable for sure.
Oh, and if you’re interested, the September/October issue of Cloth Paper Scissors magazine is out. There’s a little somethin’ in there about yours truly, as well an inspiring profile on the talented Elsita Mora. Check it out!
Those leaf and acorns are SO cute! I’ll be linking to those directions in my next Fall Roundup!
ooh – i love that magazine – unfortunately living in the uk it’s not so easy to come by :0( , maybe a subsription is on the cards!
love the teacups and the acorns too.
Are those felted sweaters going to be stockings? They’re super cute–I love all the colors!
Oh yes!!! do do put the acorns & leaves in the shop in any way shape or form. Love them!! LindaSonia
I’m all over a scrap bag! Or some acorn goodness. Or a stocking. Oh hell, one of each!! I owe you after you kindly held that baby blanket for me … and think of all the money I have to spend in your shop since I couldn’t buy the girlie baby blanket after all!
Hi!
I’ve been following your blog for quite some time! The things you make with wool and felt are so colourful and fun!
Your pincushion teacups are the best!
It’s always fun to pop in and visit!
Fun, fun stuff! Glad your back.
Very drool worthy work you do!!
Must be Christmas stockings that you are making, no? Can’t wait to read about them and see them in full picture. You are an amazing felter.
Hi again, Just went back and looked at the picture of (perhaps) Christmas Stockings and it almost looks like they are made out of sweater arms, or maybe the sweater body, and maybe from recycled ones (perhaps)? Could that be? What a great idea! Wish I had your “head”, if you know what I mean.
yes, the bottom photo is a stack of Christmas stockings in progress…made, of course, out of felted wool sweaters!
I thought I was being clever by figuring out that those must be stockings, but it looks like I’m a little late. In any case, they are super happy and cheerful and recycled only makes them better! Can’t wait to see them finished.
How fun are those cup o’ joes! Love the acorn and leaves, too. Oh and congratulations on the Cloth Paper Scissors bit! Woohoo!
Tammy
I can’t decide if I like the photos of the teacups or piles of stockings better, they both look delectable and inspiring! Beautiful blog!
