The Smile and Wave Tote is both good-looking and user friendly. The Large tote is roomy enough to carry everything you’ll need for a day of surf and sun. It’s got a wide open top with sturdy shoulder straps. Inside there’s three slip pockets for easy access plus one zippered pocket to hold keys or money. The two roomy outer pockets each have a magnetic snap closure. The Small tote includes all of the same great details and is perfect to tote your personal items.

You are familiar with your sewing machine and have taken a sewing class or have learned to sew from a book or video. You have successfully sewn a few small projects and are ready to learn more.

Large: 21” top opening, 8” x 13” base, 25” high including handles.
Small: 16 ½” top opening, 6” x 10 ½” base, 19” high including handles.

Materials you’ll need to make this bag:
The following list of materials are needed to make one Large sized tote. The Small sized tote will take slightly less fabric and stabilizer.

Main: 1 ½ yard 45” wide canvas or home dec weight fabric
Accent (bag base, facings, handles): ⅔ yard 45” wide light to mid weight fabric
Lining: 1 ⅔ yard 45” wide light weight fabric
Fusible fleece (or batting): ⅔ yard 45” wide (like Pellon Thermolam Plus)
Interfacing: 2 yards 20” wide or 1 yard 45” wide (cotton woven, such as SF101)
7” zipper
2 magnetic snaps ½” diameter {3rd snap optional, for Small}
Coordinating thread
Disappearing ink marker
Chopstick or point turning tool
Heavy duty or “jeans” machine needle
Pattern or tracing paper
Clear tape
Optional: spray starch
