a banner year logo

I’m excited to share a new project with you called “A Banner Year”, a modern wool stitch-along with the School of Wool! The School of Wool is a Facebook group I started with two friends, Blair Stocker and Mandy Leins for wool enthusiasts with a modern aesthetic.

Over the next year we’ll will be bringing you 4 seasonal banner designs for Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer.

Betz White Autumn Mandala

I’m kicking it off with the first design, the Autumn Mandala Banner. This wool appliqué project is a great stash buster for your wool and felt scraps. The pattern includes instructions for sewing the banner as well as a low-sew option for mounting your piece in a hoop.

This is a “slow stitching” project, meaning you can pick it up and put it down and still have plenty of time to get it finished before the first frost of fall. I’ll have weekly tips and tutorials to help you out along the way. Participants in the Facebook group can feel free to post their progress, share ideas and ask questions!

The pattern is available for purchase in my Etsy shop. In addition there is a VERY limited supply of wool felt scrap bags available in the shop as well. These are NOT kits, but a random scrappy sampling of felty goodness if you need your stash enhanced.   [Just a brief note to let you know that some Etsy shop credit card orders are taking some time to process, thank you in advance for your patience!]

I’d love for you to join the School of Wool community over on Facebook! (Psst! There’s a special price on the pattern for members!) Or if you prefer Instagram be sure to tag your posts with #SOWabanneryear. Otherwise you can keep tabs on things here on the blog as well!
