In my last post I showed you my studio – the big picture. Basically a sun room off of our family room, I can shut the french doors and seclude myself. I can pretend that I didn’t just traipse through a mine field of legos to get in here. I can make my own big crafty mess and hide it from the rest of the world. Paradise? Kind of…except it’s hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and the slate floor is hard enough to crack a kid’s head open that spins too fast in your office chair…oh, sorry. Way too much information…

Anyway, I thought I’d show a few close ups, vignettes, if I may.

This little adirondack chair was my oldest son’s when he was a tot. I couldn’t bear to get rid of it so it has become a little book shelf. The pencil sketch is mine from a figure drawing class I took waaaay back in art school.

Check out these handy little test tubes! I have been hoarding them for eons hoping to discover a use for them. Buttons! They are perfect for storing my buttons! Really now, the things that excite me. I should be embarassed.

This board is full of “swipes” of my favorite felty inspiration. I bring it when I teach my workshops to help spark ideas. See the little twig chair with the monkey on it? That chair is one of my favorite things. My talented sister-in-law, Christy, MADE IT for me. Oh yeah, I knit that monkey, but he is NOTHING without his chair.

(Do I have a chair theme developing here?)

These prints are another sentimental remnant from the former nursery of The Small Ones. I just love the illustration style and wanted to keep them around. (Did I mention all of the windows in here? And how it’s hard to photograph stuff on a sunny day? Sorry about the glare)

Not having a lot of wall space poses a challenge for hanging art and reference material. I love this vintage retractable clothesline my husband found. I use it to hang swatches, swipes, work-in-progress, that sort of thing.

That’s all folks…until someday when I get new paint on these walls.
