Here’s the count for the weekend in no particular order…
1 giant truck full of mulch dumped in the driveway (named “mulch monster” by the boys)
3 blisters from shoveling mulch
10 cupcake pincushions finished and in the in the shop
2 summertime buzz cuts for the boys (1 is actually a mohawk…)
144 pgs of book manuscript waiting for me to review
10 yds of iCord knit for upcoming kits
2 swimming lessons
11 felted wool scrapbags in the shop
1 soccer game
2 betz white wholesale orders almost finished
2 BBQ’s at friends
4 runny hay fever noses
1 big fat mosquito bite, first of the season! 🙁
2 flats of flowers partially planted around the yard
1 slightly smaller mulch monster still taking over the driveway
Good Luck on the mulch! We just did a dump truck load and now I’m sore. They should name one of the Memorial Day Weekend days as Memorial Day Mulch Day. Or something like that.
We could be living a parallel life. Substitute the 2 boys for 2 boys and three girls and the yarn and sweaters for fabric and thread, and yup we are pretty much the same:) Mosquitoes, book mauscripts, flowers, bbqs. That was my weekend too.
Have been meaning to come over and say hello, love your blog, and what you do.
with love, Anna Maria
oh betz! that is way too much…MY head is spinning just hearing about it all…you must feel so accomplished:)

Wow, you have been busy! Gardening as well as the long list of crafting and book-proofing? Sounds like a wonderful weekend, especially the BBQs 🙂
It’s only 7:15 in the morning, and I’m already exhausted just reading your list and looking at the mountain of mulch.
Going back to bed now.
When our load of mulch gets delivered, it usually takes us the entire season to get it spread — we get used to living with the mulch monster. On the hay fever front, I can heartily recommend Zaditor (eyedrops available over the counter that really do relieve ultra-itchy eyes) and Nasonex (prescription nasal spray). My 9 y-o son has been much less miserable this year because of these products (but it HAS been a tough year for allergy sufferers!).
Hearing that list reminds me of some of the short list of benefits to having 50-foot trees in my backyard, and therefore, less than half a days’ sun. That mulch and all is a lot of work!!! I just wait till fall when it’s nice and cool, get out my bulb-planting tool (I don’t even have to bend over to dig the holes) and plant a bunch of bulbs. IF I feel like it, because most all of the ones in the ground already will spread themselves. I bet your yard will look great though!
