There are things I should be doing right now, and this is not one of them…
It’s not my fault, you know. First there was Anna on Martha (who was fab, btw). I had to watch the whole show. Martha taught Julianne Moore how to make a moss covered wreath. Then I spied this inspiring wreath on Crispina’s website. What’s a girl with bags of felt scraps to do?
Last holiday season I was mired in book deadlines. “Never again!” I said. Yeah…well, as a college friend of mine used to say, “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. Here I am again, Book #2 deadlines all about me. (one is Monday! do you think my editor reads my blog???)
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE what I am working on (more about that later). There are just sooo many other things tugging at me this time of year! The holidays, the etsy shop, wholesale orders, family, gift making and decorating….I want it all! 🙂 And then there’s you. My blog buddies. There’s so much to share and not much time to fit it all in.
So, anyway, that pile of stuff is the beginnings of a felt scrap wreath. Oh wait, one more link. I saw the “Grandiflora” scarf on the anthropologie site and want to make rosette-y things like that all over the wreath form. Only colorful. Maybe throw in a few felt balls…some jingle bells….whaddya think?
Well I should be cleaning the bathrooms and working on my stuff… but what I am doing?…ah yes… getting a bit of visual rest and inspiration..so keep at it!.. Can’t wait to see the wreath!

I can already tell it is going to be GORGEOUS!! I can’t wait to get your book. I pre-ordered it on Amazon. I love my pin cushion (from etsy) and smile everytime I see it. Your work is just so beautiful!
Your post made me smile. Wider the further into it I got.
You DO have it all. It’s just hard to manage it when it jumps at you all at once like this.
I think that it will be fab!
…but it’s such a cute wreath! I saw that Martha show too–what a fun project.
This is going to be just awesome!
Hi, I enjoy reading your blog. I noticed your link to the scarf wouldn’t work.
Hi HMO, thanks for the tip…I think I fixed the link…it wouldn’t let me link to the specific scarf, you’ll have to find it by name I guess…:(
Betz
Your wreath will be wonderful. You do a fantastic job managing so much already, I have faith that you’ll be able to do everything you need to do. Best wishes.
Oh it sounds lovely. I’m updating last years wreath with this years theme. Jingle bells and paper stars. What I should be doing is cleaning up the house but instead I am making more mess. Such is life lol!
Can’t wait to see the finished object!
Wow, just seeing the very beginnings of your wreath shows the great potential!
Arggh!! Now I’ve got the wreath bug! This happens almost every time I come to your blog. 🙂 So many projects!
Betz, where did you get the wreath form? I’ve een to several stores over the past few days in search of them and can’t find anyone who carries them!
And I thought I was so brilliant because I have a wool sweater I’ve felted to use on my wreath. I had no idea anyone else was doing it. Haha!
Maybe I should just stick to jewelry.
LOL, Betz! I’m going through the same thing but with getting ready for No Coast Craft-o-Rama. I am desperately behind on my projects to sell at the sale, but all I want to do is start new ones, decorate the house, go Christmas shopping… Oh well, 2 more weeks of sweat-shop crafting (;-) and then the sale will be over. We’ll miss you this year!!!!
Hi there,
Just wanted to let you know that I saw your segment on Martha Stewart and made my own cup of Jo, and just love it, cant wait to see your book on our shelves here in NZ, I have been felting up a storm now for a few years, its nice to see a fresh take on it.
Cheers from Victoria
That looks interesting. Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Yes Yes Yes to the wreath idea with the flowerettes. Have no doubt I could receive that sight unseen and would LOVE it … LindaSonia….
