I just have to make piles. I need to look at things for while before I can make decisions. I throw stuff in a heap and walk by it 20 times a day. Sometimes I stop and look at the pile. Sometimes I throw something else on top of it. I work on different projects, then come back to the pile. Sometimes I scoop it up and stuff it in the closet. And sometimes I make something out of it. (I had to laugh at a comment I got last post about “how tidy” my sewing area is. HA! Tidy shmidy, the rest of the studio is a dump!)
there’s the tan pile…
the felted sweater pile…
the red pile…
the vintage pile…
And then yesterday outside my studio window was a snow pile! Yay!
Which inspired me to finish these, which had been cut out and half sewn for about a year. (“Cozy Mittens” page 114 from Warm Fuzzies) Fortunately, most of my piles don’t hang around that long.
I also have piles, but not as organized as Betz’s. Color piles, good idea. I really need a bigger room, knock aout a wall or something. Hmm, Oh Honey?
I used to work in a fabric store and once a co-worker asked a customer what she was making with the fabric I was cutting for her. Her answer? “Piles.” I loved that.
Your mittens also remind me of a neck scarf that I finished only yesterday. All it needed was a button, and it sat on my work table FOREVER!
I believe that all those that we sew or we have hobbys we have many thing a lot of…. I do not have quarter of seam my husband a day threw to me of house because I invade everything
I feel use altavista translator
The red pile is my favourite, I have several of those around my house at the moment too.
i tend to have
piles
around the house, too…
but they seem to be more
of the dirty laundry,
folded laundry not yet put away,
dirty dishes and kids wet
hat/mittens/snowpants piles…
sigh.
trade?
(and the mittens are very cute!)
You’re funny, those are fabulous piles! Your outside looks like mine right now. I love the mittens, very cute!
I have the same green and pink and blue floral pillowcase as you have in your vintage pile!
I wish my piles looked as creative as yours.
I adore piles of stuff (at least visually), I think you have neat piles -which is a good thing. In love with the tan pile especially.
Betz, I keep meaning to tell you how much I love your book. I gave a copy to my mother and my sister for Christmas and they really like it too. Whenever I see it at Barnes & Noble I do a little display re-do and place it out front 😉 Hugs, Cassi
At least yours are colorized!
Lovely piles! My husband isn’t always so appreciative of my piles as I am. By the way. I just recently finished a quilt made of feltd sweaters if you are interested in taking a look.
Hi Betz, check out my new blog, and you will come away with warm fuzzies!
Have a great day!

Oh hee! I know exactly what you mean, but hey, it’s those piles that inspire new lovelies. So let them be free to do what they do best.
coming from a big desert, all I can do is look at the picture of the snow outside on the tree and go “Ahhhhhh and Oooooh” in awe. What a beautiful picture and the mittens are lovely too.
I don’t have a problem with any of your piles. I think they are well organized and “ready” to create from, he he. That is what I do, but they are all through the house. That’s creative people for you, and look at all you accomplish. Hey I’m proud of you!!!!
Oh goodness yes – in the house and in the metal studio.
I probably have virtual piles in the computer too.
gkgirl,
I have those piles too, believe me! I just though it’d be best not to share those! 🙂
Betz
I’m soooooooooo glad to see that someone else has piles…and, piles of snow. Just beautiful! The mittens look warm and fuzzy and cozy! I’ll check them out in your book…which I love by the way!
Hi Betz,
I’m new to your blog and got overly inspired as I flipped through past posts.
I bought your book last week and dashed to Goodwill and almost had an azxiety attack as I saw row after row of sweaters. Then I started looking for WOOL. That was like a needle in a haystack. I did find about 8 out of thousands. I’m sure I missed a few in the packed racks. I felted them and they are lovely to touch. I’m off to another Goodwill today (in below zero weather) to canvas the place. Weather can’t stop a woman with a mission!!
Question… how do you make felted balls?? I found the use of felt balls in your book but not how to make them. HELP!

PS I promoted your book on my January 10th post.
Hi Yummers,
Just wanted to mention that the Flickr pool for the book covers felt balls. I prefer to buy them and you can find resources listed in the back of the book and over in the discussion over here:
