That’s what we say everytime (almost) we pull into the driveway after being away, “Home again home again, jiggety jig.”
I’ve got a few days of sorting to do…sorting through laundry, mail, email, the clutter waiting here untouched since we left on our vacation. The best sorting job to be done is going through the photos. Humor me for just a few…
The persistant fishermen. Did I mention the rain? Oh yes, we had our share of clouds and dampness last week. Rain is good for some things.
We ventured out into the woods between the cloudbursts for a mushroom hunt. The variety was amazing!
Anyone for pancakes? This ‘short stack’ even has it’s own dollop of whipped butter!
another fungus among us… (how many times did I hear that on our walk?)
pushing up through the blanket pf pine needles…
We called this the “hamburger bun” mushroom
In real life these looked like flan or creme brulee. In these photos they look a bit more like oranges with their green leaves. Hmm, I detect a theme. Our walk must’ve been right before lunch time.
Speaking of food…after I get some groceries in the fridge and otherwise situated around here, I’ll be back on track with some crafty stuff for you. I’ll share the handy travel aid for the kiddles I came up with for the looong car ride.
Happy Tuesday!

Loved seeing the pictures. The one that you guys recreated is just priceless!!
We say that too, except we’re big nerds so it often gets followed with “Good evening, J.F.”
Yeah, our son has grown up being a little confused about how that nursery rhyme actually goes…
My mother used to say the same thing! It used to drive my husband nuts. Now I’ve noticed he says it from time to time …
At our house, we do the same thing – almost exactly the same – with us, it’s “home again, home again, riggety-jig”!
(Either way, “east, west – hame’s best” right?)
🙂
We say it too, which seems odd as it looks like an American thing. In our family it came from my welsh/english step mum and I’ve always said it with my kids. It’s that a funny thing.
LOve the ‘shrooms pics. They really are amazing.
Looking forward to seeing you when you get done with all that washing.
Loved the recreated picture and love NH. Thanks for posting pictures. We used to live up there and I miss it.
So very nice to find a fellow Marylander out in blogland.
There is a woman at the Annapolis Sunday market (down at the dock) who does felting, as they sell lamb. I’m just fascinated by it.
Ok, I have to comment too—for years growing up, My mom said on arriving home—-” to market, to market, to buy a fat pig, home again, home again jiggity- jig–wow, what memories!
Oh and I just saw these lovelies on the Purl website and thought you might get a kick out of them

Hi Georgia,
Thanks for the shroom link! cute!
betz
We say the same little rhyme when we pull into the drive. In fact I named my shop from that little ryhme…Home Again. I though about naming it Jiggety Jig, but I wasn’t sure how well known the rhyme is and if everyone would get it.
