Werewolves of London” —Warren Zevon, RIP
We finished the werewolf costume just in time for the Halloween party my son went to today! I’m glad the weather cooled off a bit because he would’ve roasted otherwise. I sewed fake fur “tubes” to the ends of old cut-off pants and a thrifted flannel shirt. The hood velcro’s under the chin for easy removal.
My Aveda eyeliner pencils came in handy for the facial details…as did the beast’s naturally scraggly teeth. 🙂 The red you see in the photo is actually the sun reflecting off the tail light of my car. Gruesome, no?
While I was documenting his costume in the front yard, I thought I’d show you my lamp post ghost. It’s my favorite Halloween decoration: cheap, easy, reusable and spooky-cute! My mom does this at my parents’ house every year but I’ve never had a lamp post…until now! Grab a white second-hand sheet at the Goodwill, draw a face in the middle and throw it over your lamp post. (My lamp is really pointy on top, so I put a clear plastic bowl on the top before putting the sheet over it.) Then tie a ribbon or string around the base of the lamp and arrange the gathers of the sheet. If the sheet is too long, just trim around the bottom edge. Make it jaggy if you want.
It’s almost impossible to get a good shot of this at night, but it looks great illuminated on a dark windy night! So s-p-o-o-k-y!
Fantastic costume!
The costume turned out perfect! The naturally occuring teeth are definitely the finishing touch! LOL
“(His hair was perfect.)”
