After gettin’ jiggy with the glue gun last week, nothing around here is safe from being ribbon-ized or trim-ificated. How ’bout clothes pins?!
I’ve mentioned this before, but I love having a clothes line in my studio space over my sewing machine and/or drawing table. I clip all kinds of things up there like magazine pages, swatches, parts of projects I’m working on, etc. When I was tidying up the space last week I got to thinking about jazzing up those clothes pins with ribbon scraps.
Super-cinchy: Just apply a line of hot glue to a wooden clothes pin then press a length of trim on top. I trimmed the ribbon ends with sharp scissors then applied a smidge of Fray-Check to the ends. Nobody likes a raveling ribbon.
Fun! These are as handy as paper clips but with much more style. Use them to mark a page, organize your papers, hold your coupons, hold your nose, whatever! đ
Thanks for the lovely comments regarding my studio make-over sneak peeks. It’s already looking a little more…um, lived in…since it’s photo shoot, but that’s ok. I work here, I gotta be able to mess it up, right?
By the way, I’m planning an etsy shop update 1/19 and will have kits and other goodies available.
those are so cute and simple to make! i am a fan of the clothesline.
thanks for sharing đ
Oh, that is so cute and clever!
Inspired – you clever lady. They look so pretty.
I saw something vaguly simelar in a shop once, but not half as cute witht he ribbon choice… a great little quick craft.. it would be a good christmas project to make a card holder with.
So cute!
Your studio shots look great. I need to do that to my studio. I felt like I cleared, organized and cleaned out not too long ago and now it looks worse than ever! How does that happen?
Thanks for sharing.
Those are cute with fabric and trim. I’ve made some with scrapbook paper and added a magnet for hanging on the fridge.
You are a genius!! I love that idea..and I love the idea of putting the ball fringe on your shelves too! It really would give a fun, color touch to any room. I spotted some at JoAnn Fabrics the other day that was brown and turquoise…Oooh. Thanks for sharing. =)
Hey Betz,
I was inspired by you to clean my studio and now I feel so calm and collected. And so add to the glow, I visited by local thrift shop yesterday and found 2 pink sweaters and a red wool blazer just in time for some valentine projects. And yes, I do think people love valentines day, really every chance we have to tell the important people in our lives that we love them should be wonderful, why just one day a year? So here’s to snowy days and warm sweaters! Mariah
Hello, I just found your blog. Very cute and lovely! I’m glad I found you. Your glue gun work is very nice.
Love that orange sweater in the backround too!
i love that idea!! i am doing a show where i need some clothes pins and those are perfect so they aren’t so blah….thanks for sharing
I have SO MUCH RIBBON! I really need to do this! I love your idea for a clothesline, I might have to “steal” it!
Hugs!

Hey Betz,
I have been working on the rustic throw from your book as a b-day gift for my brother, but I am about ready to sew my blocks together and was wondering if I should use a flexi stitch of some kind. I have an older Singer with several options, do you have any input on this?? Am stopping for today as the perfectly arranged blocks were ambushed by a large safari vehicle driven by a 2 year old, oh well…Cheers Mariah
I gave you an award:

Check it out!
Hi Mariah,
I just used a straight stitch for the Rustic Throw on the lapped seams. If you are concerned about stretch, you could also do the lapped seams with a zigzag. Please post your finished throw in the Warm Fuzzies Flickr group!
Thanks!
What a great idea! đ
Hi Betz-

I LOVE that divided cat dish! Can you tell me the manufacturer or artist? I collect cats and would love to add something like that to my collection.
I love these clothes pins (or pegs as I call ’em). I have a string across one wall in my younger two’s room and all their art work that they bring home gets pegged up there…I think there’s 2 years or so worth up there. I just keep pegging it over the top. Anyway, these would look great up there…add some more colour to the chaos.
What a fun and clever idea! I had done an article on my blog recently about using clothespins as thrifty ways to clip bags shut and to use around the kitchen, which can be found here:

And I love that you brought that idea to a whole new level with the ribbon fun! I love also how you made a little clothes line of inspiring swatches – a great idea for any designer or crafter’s office!
Hi! I just saw your adorable clip project and I had to comment. What a fun idea!
I KNEW that you were from MD even before I saw your profile. I recognized that ribbon from the Offray store đ I live in Keedysville and you and I have very similar taste in ribbon!
Hi!
Yesterday I posted an entry on my blog with a link to this tutorial.
Would you let me know if that’s OK?
Thanks,
Nancy Ward
