Are blog years something like dog years? My blog is 3 years old…is that like a toddler or a 21 dog-year old dog? My 3 year blogiversary was May 1st. Sorry Dear Blog, I forgot. Maybe instead of thinking of the blog as a human or an animal, I should think of it as a relationship.
I suppose I should pause and reflect on the 378 posts and the 24 tutorials created during these 3 years. (24 tutorials people! Holy schmoly, go check them out in the sidebar for pete’s sake.) But it’s not about all that, it’s about you guys. You are the blog! You are the ones I think of when I come here to share a photo, a project, a story. You are the ones that inspire me with your comments and kind words.
So, how ’bout a little show of appreciation, eh? In honor of the Big Three, I’m giving away a signed copy of my newest book, Sewing Green! To win, please comment on this post by midnight EST Wednesday 5/27/09. In your comment, tell me what kinds of things you enjoy seeing here on my blog. More of something? Less of something? Now’s your chance to speak up! I will randomly select a winner. Flattery will get you no where, but no need to hold back. 🙂 Please leave your email or a way for me to contact you if your name is chosen.
In the meantime, I’ve been doing a little housekeeping, like refreshing my blog header. What do you think? (Those sweet little nests are popping up all over. I think they are just the ticket for teacher gifts this year!) Hopefully you will be seeing more refreshing changes around here soon. Aside from an upcoming blog and website redesign (thank you hubby) I am working on two new big exciting projects! Details coming soon…
(5/28/09: Comments now closed, thank you!)
Congratulations on three years! And thank you for reminding me that felt is fun. I like your posts about your outdoor adventures with your kids. And anything about boy clothes. How about teacher gifts for men? Any ideas?
I love your tutorials and finished projects, so much inspiration. Have had your new book on my wishlist for several weeks now. I would love to win a copy, more money for fabric LOL! [email protected]
Wow! Happy 3rd to you! I love your tutorials and creativity! Would also love to have your book!
How about some simple tutorials of items that are easy for you but may be a good starting point for some folks beginning? Nothing major, just some fun stuff…or ideas…you are so talented – would love to make something of your design and then show my friends and direct them to your site! Thanks for the opp to win a signed copy of the book! Exciting!!!
I agree with the comment above (way to be original, eh?) but seriously…I love your tutorials, I am just beginning sewing but I love to see what is possible with some experience. Thanks for the opportunity!!
I love your craft ideas and tutorials. I had so much fun making the stuffed bunny at Easter this year.
Congratulations! I just think you’re great and love your projects. I really like the pillowcase tutorials you’re focusing on right now, but really I like anything that involves shopping at thrift stores and garage sales and repurposing. Keep up the great work and thank you for all that you do!!
Congrats on 3yrs!!! I love the tutorials… 🙂 You are just so inspiring to me!
Whoot -hoot. Congrats on 3 years. I love your blog – I enjoy the variety every time. More tuts, I suppose. Thanks for sharing!
Congratz on 3 years! I love all the great pictures, I can never get enough of those!
Thanks so much!
Celle
I think my favourite things about your blog are the tutorials. They are sooooo nicely put together, easy to follow, and I actually WANT to do them. You’re really very good at making them. Your recent use of the scrapblog templates makes them even prettier.
I also love how this is a personal blog for you where you talk about things going on in your life, your family, and your trials and tribulations in writing and preparing for your books. I like how I get to see your process, and I find it inspiring.
I happened to come here by chance one day long ago from Etsy, but I’ve been visiting regularly ever since.
Happy 3 years!
I found your blog sometime around December while trying to figure out what to do with the vintage linens I’ve been collecting. We have some of the same pillowcases! I made a few of mine into cute lil bags as Christmas gifts.
I love seeing how you use repurposed materials.
Your new header is sweet. Very nice.
Excited to hear about your upcoming projects!
Congratulations! Your always an inspiration. I always love learning something new especially new things to sew or ways to repurpose since I’m trying hard to develop my sewing skills and trying to be more frugal! You always have such great ideas!
Get ideas for the creation of your blog. Thank you. This is interesting. Keeping Hope!
I love seeing clothing patterns … with tutorials. But really, thanks for all you do!
How generous! Thanks for sharing the tutorials as well – I always appreciate repurposed materials used in creative ways.
I love all the ways to use pillowcases and sheets. I have quite the collection and plan to make skirts and dresses for the summer with some of them. I would love your book!
How exciting! I sure hope you draw my name; I’d LOVE to get my hands on your book! What do I love about your blog? Hmmm… so much! I love your pictures and the way you make me thing, “Hey! I can DO that!!!” You’re an inspiration! Happy Blogoversary.
I loved your tutorial on the shirred top and you made it wonderfully easy for me (a wet-behind-the-ears beginner) to follow. I would love to see more really simple tutorials for those of us just learning to sew.
Thanks so much for this blog. I really enjoy it.
Congrats on 3 years!! I really enjoy your tutorials and when you use recycled materials for your projects! Also your photos are very pretty!
Congratulations on your book and blog turning 3 years old. I would love a copy of your book because you are so creative and inspiring and I love to see what I can do.
congratulations on three great years. When I was teaching myself to felt (destroy) sweaters I found your blog which made me aware of your book and it was all a great help. I made three felted purses for friends that christmas, thank you. I love the tutorials and the general sharing. I can’t think of anything you should change actually.
Congratulations on three great years :). everyone has pretty much covered what I wanted to suggest, but it would also be cool to see a little mini felted hat or headband accessory…
Three years, how wonderful. Congratulations! I love your blog and really enjoy the tutorials. Thanks for all the colorful inspiration.
HI!
I love your blog because of colours, inspirations and fresh ideas. Can’t help coming here every time you post. 🙂
I pop in here for a little dose of inspiration so please keep doing exactly what you’re doing.
Janie xx
I think blogging years should be realtionship years: one that you want to last forever! Thanks for ALL the inspiration; I have enjoyed EVERYTHING on your blog!
Congratulations! I love your blog. Again, I like very much your tutorials.
As a “newish comer” to your site, I love your ideas and have certainly tried out your tutorials. I look forward to your next projects. Meredith
Wow – 3 years and 24 tutorials! Amazing! I don’t need to win you book since I own it already but just wanted to say congrats and how much I enjoy your blog…and the nests are absolutely adorable!
Congratulations all the way from the Netherlands! I love your blog, and I love your tutorials and the way you re-use things to make something new. Hope there will be many more years of blogging!
Congratulations on your anniversary!! 3 years is a long time to keep up with a blog…I just started my 365 project and have a hard time keeping up with my posts! You are truly very talented and I very much enjoy your tutorials on quick and simple crafts and sewing projects since I am a beginning sewer. I can’t wait to try your pillowcase summer top tut! [email protected]
I absolutely adore all your craftprojects. Want to have more of it and tuts.
Congratulations!!

Found your blog just a few weeks ago.. and I am so happy to have found it.. that I cant think of something more to add..lol.. but after reading some of the comments.. tutorials.. that is one thing that we all love.. so that is one thing… and one more thing…pincushions…:o) And congratulations on your 3 years in blogland!!! :o))
Happy blogoversary!!! I love your tutorials and your finished works helps me to find new ideas 🙂 Thank you very much for this blog 🙂
laukiu.laisku @ gmail.com
I love your how to’s and tutorials and pictures of your other projects – very inspiring. I also loved the “behind the scenes” information about your books – e.g. the cover alternatives. I’d love to win a copy of your book.
CONGRATS! Your tutorials and reuse of old things into new things are what I love most about your blog. You are great at what you do! Thanks for inspiring!
p.s. I would LOVE a copy of your book! thanks for such a generous offer.
My favourite thing about your site is your enthusiasm. It shines through your tutorials, books and each post. Thanks for all the tips and info.
Congratulations on your blogiversary!
I love coming here for new ideas and inspiration. your tutorials are great!
Congratulations on 3 years of blogging. I love your tutorials. Especially the ones involving recycling old items into new ones. Teresa
You are so inspiring, but also fun to read. I love the posts about your journey into being an author and the clever puns in the titles. So more puns maybe? Just kidding, I think you keep a great balance in your blog. I don’t think you need to change a thing!
Congratulation! I love your simply, green, and creative tutorials. Thanks for sharing us all of them.
Best wishes!
I enjoy reading your blog, you always have a little bit of everything I like, so you don’t have to change anything. Congratulations on your third bloganniversary.
I love the tutorials and seeing some of your finished projects. Congrats on 3 years!
Happy Anniversary! I love your blog just the way it is. I really enjoy viewing tutorials for crafts.
Happy Blogaversary!! Love coming to your blog and love the tutorials and would always always welcome more!!
p.x. love your new blog header – agree the nests are very ‘she she’.
🙂

Just wanted to say that I love your blog-fun, informative and gives me lots of ideas. I also like it when we hear about you and your family. I already have your book -no I couldn’t wait. And it’s great. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations on 3 years- wish I had found you at the beginning! I love it all- keep it up!
Congratulations!
I enjoy your blog and reading about all kinds of sewing projects and crafts.
3 years, wow, congrats! I hope my tiny blog makes it that long 🙂
I already own your book, but I’d love to share the joy and pass it along to someone else who loves to craft green!
Thank you for your constant inspiration 🙂 Can’t wait to see what else you have cooking up your sleeves. More photos please!
Congratulations! As you can see from the comments, you’ve got quite a fan club. 🙂
I love your tutorials and sneak peeks at works in progress.
Betz – I know that tutorials are a lot of work, but I love them. Your ideas inspire me and that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? The pillowcase top is so cute. I’ve always promoted the fact that a bedsheet is the best fabric bargain out there.
The exciting thing about blogging as an artist is that you can get to know your followers, and they can get to know you too. I found myself in a bookstore one day and someone was looking at your book. I said, “Oh, I know Betz!” ……. well, not really, but you know what I’m talking about.
I’m happy for your success because you’re very talented.
P.S. I’d be thrilled to win the book.
Happy, happy blogiversary!!! I love your blog so much. Thanks for all those wonderful tutes. You don’t need to enter me in the drawing for your great book—I have already purchased it!!! And I’ve joined the Flickr group (though I haven’t posted anything there yet). Keep up the fantastic job.
you can keep me out of the drawing. i just wanted to say congrats and thank you. blogging and especially tutorials requires a lot of work. i really appreciate your willingness to share your ideas and techniques with all of us.
I am new to your blog and sewing, and just love everything! My favorite projects are those that take something basic and turn them into the unexpected, like the apron made from jeans!
Happy Blogiversary!
I love the simplicity of your design, clean look, clean lines. This seems to translate to all of your work..even to the design of your blog.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Congratulations on three years! I love the new look!
Happy Blogiversary! I’ve been stalking, oops, I mean, visiting your site almost daily for the past 9 months. Your tutorials are great and easy to understand. I especially love the repurposed materials projects you do, so keep more of those coming! The blog tour was great because it led me to many great sites I probably wouldn’t have found on my own.
Happy Blogiversary!
I have been reading your blog for a while now, and I always love the creativity that you share. Tutorials are great, but what I really love is just the day-to-day stuff of what you are creating. So inspiring!
Thanks!!
Sara (sara at red owl designs dot com)
Happy Anniversary! I love your blog. Keep up the creative work.
Congratulations! I enjoy your tutorials.
Congrats! Hope you keep it up a while longer as i never get enough of seeing your woollen recycling ideas. And tutorials are such a generous gift, so THANK YOU!
mirjamvdb at telfort.nl
Grats on the three year anniversary! I think it is like dog years. It takes a lot of work to keep a blog, it doesn’t just age by itself. 🙂
I would like to see more of the recycled projects out of other material than sweaters. I have tried a lot of your designs, but because wool sweaters are hard to come by (and very expensive) where I live, I usually use t-shirts. So I am interested in alternative medium.
Thanks for hosting the blog contest, and thanks for posing your crafty musings. They are great inspiration for the rest of us!
congratulations! i just love the beautiful simpicity of your projects. as a new sewer, i’m learning so much from your tutorials. plus, you’re so darn crafty!! Lisa
Congratulations on your 3 year blog anniversary. I love your blog and have looked at all of your tutorials. After I bought your Warm Fuzzies book I too fell in love with felt and felting. I love your blog and will continue to tune in. Thanks.
Congrats on 3 years! In this virtual world, it may sum up to 21 years.
Personally, I love your blog. I’ve only been followinq for about a month, but I am loving your simple projects. Like the tutorial for the pillowcase tank. Keep posting about re-inventing some standard objects/articles around the house, and I’ll keep reading!
3 years! I was quite happy when I reached my 1st. It’s a labor of love, as you know, and you have loved us and your handicraft quite well! We love you. Keep up the great work.
I personally LOVE the bird nest header, but sure whatever you change it to will be just as perfect.
Betz, congrats on the 3 years! I always like seeing a variety of things on this and similar blogs. Of course, I love the new creations and tutorials! I also like that your green crafting is innovative and unique–it’s always a treat to see what’s new on your blog.
I have to say, Betz, I do love your tutorials!
And my heart sings when I hear you have a shop update!
Your crafting knowledge is invaluable. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself on your blog.
Happy 3rd Blogavirsery!!! I love all the tutorials that I find here. They are brillant and I’m always checking for updates. I’ll keep coming back. 🙂

Happy 3 years of blogging!! Lucky us, who found your blog! I don’t think I can suggest any particular changes, because I just enjoy your blog as it is. It’s perfectly balanced, I love the colours you use and the projects you share, it is just nice, fresh, colourful inspiration to me:)

I love the tutorials. And the new header is beautiful!
Congratulations on your 3 year anniversary. I just love your blog. I love all the tutorials and inspiration you give. I always look forward to seeing the projects you post. Thanks for sharing all your ideas.
I love your tutorials. Used one (sort of) to make sweater bunnies for my nieces one Easter. Congrats on three years!
Congrats on a fantastic blog! I love it just the way it is – I especially love the crafts and tutorials. [email protected]
I absolutely love your blog and have been meaning to pick up a copy of your book but haven’t been able to set aside the cash yet, so to win one would be amazing.
My favorite things about your blog are the tutorials and hearing all about your tour. I actually made a point to stop in at Purl Bee in Soho, NYC when I was there last week sightseeing. I wanted to pick up some fabric and check it out – what an amazing place! Thanks for mentioning it!
Keep up the awesome blogging! I’m a very happy follower!
I adore your tutorials – keep em coming!
Congratulations on THREE years! I love reading & browsing your blog for ideas. You’ve got awesome tutorials. I just love seeing items repurposed & transformed into something new & useful. You have wonderful ideas!
Congratulations on 3 years! Love all the pictures on your blog. Your tutorials are excellent.
I knew of your book, but not your blog. The pillowcase top tutorial is how I found you, so please more tutorials!
I don’t have your book yet, but if I don’t win it, it will be coming home from the bookstore very soon!
Congratulations on three years of blogging! I’d love to win your book!
I don’t remember how long I’ve been reading, but I enjoy seeing your projects. So cute!
Happy Blogiversary!!! I do enjoy your blog very much. My favorite is the tutorials. I am hoping to make some of your shirred pillowcase tops for my daughter and niece this weekend.
Betz, you are the most creative & prolific crafter I know! I’m always amazed that you can just keep pumping out the tutorials, which are my favorite. Happy Blogversary sweets! XO
Congrats! Keep those tutorials coming! Love the new header too!
I have only been reading your blog for a short time, but it always makes me want to sew more. Keep up the good work.
Congratulations! I love your ideas, your tutorials (especially the ones involving recycling old items into new ones), your photos and the way you share it all with us, readers.
I have only been reading your blog for a short time, but it always inspires me to sew more. Keep up the good work!
Happy birthday dear blog!:)
You gave me a lots of good idea, so you need to continue!
I’d love to see more children’s toys and ideas. With the recent lead paint scare, I am all for making gifts for little people. And less plastic on my floor is a good thing, right? Thanks for the inspiration!
[email protected]
Happy birthday dear blog!:)
You gave me a lots of good idea, so you need to continue!
I love your blog, my favorites are the tutorials and good links you provide. The sweet nest header is charming. Thanks
Happy, happy anniversary! I am loving your little corner of the blogosphere!…it has inspired me to return to sewing and to leave my sewing machine out, up and ready for the next project—love that! Thank you!
I just love getting inspiration to take one thing and make it something else. Not everyone can see that. Thanks for the beautiful pictures and for sharing your life with us. Congrats on three years!
Happy Blogoversary! I love your new header, and the motto– so perfect! Thanks for all you do!
Happy Blogoversary! I find your blog so inspiring and I really enjoy reading the clever things you do! Oh, and your craft room re-do was AWESOME. I am so jealous!
Congrats on 3 years! I love reading about anything you are doing with or making for your kids. My son is 8 and daughter is 5. I have a huge stash of old clothes, sweaters, etc. just waiting for you to tell me what to transform them into. Love it all!
Thanks for all the inspiration.
Amy…[email protected]
I love your very cool & generous tutorials. Thank for sharing them!
mmedlyn2004 (at) yahoo (dot) com
Congratulations on the anniversary of your blog! I really enjoy it, and the best thing to me is that is has given me a new appreciation for things that I might have otherwise thrown away without thinking about it. Now before I get rid of anything, I try to think if there is anything I could do it with it, or with parts of it, which makes me feel better about it all the way around.
I am so sorry I missed your visit to Spool – I was working, and was really disappointed! But it sounds like it was fun. Maybe on your next trip …
happy anniversary
you are such and inspiration lucky me every time I read something new and I learn
I just love seeing your ideas, tutorials or not! Very inspiring!
I love to see all of your felted projects. And the pictures of your studio–I love those, too.
Love the new header. It looks great!
I actually just found your blog not too long ago. I love it. In fact, I am planning on making a pillow case top today. I’m very excited! Keep up your good work.

Thanks for the giveaway. Hmmm… the things I like are your frequent posts, your multiple photos and of course the tutorials! Yours is the first blog I ever read and the first one I check every day, so obviously I’m a big fan. Keep up the great work!
I love everything that you do on your blog. And how you show real people wearing the items, or in a room. I repurpose also, so am always looking for new inspiration. I started out with your little cupcake pincushions, and that opened the door for me. Just keep on keeping on, girl!
Happy blogaversary…wow 3 years. I’ve really enjoyed your blog. I enjoy the tutorials so much. I also really like to see what you’re working on…so inspiring. I like your new look too!
Love your blog. Keep the tutorials coming! 🙂
I just love all your fresh Ideas ! I love that your crafts are all re-using old things and giving them a new twist ! I am a college student and I love that I can afford all the crafts that you do . Thank you 🙂
I love the tutorials and the photos of the completed items – some are so inspiring even without a tutorial…
I love to see what you are working on. And of course I love your tutorials. And I love seeing what you have been doing with your cute boys.
Lovin’ your blog. I really do love all the pictures of your projects and tutorials. Thank you for being so green.

Thanks so much for the giveaway! I do love the idea of repurposing materials, but I don’t even know how to use our sewing machine yet — need to have hubby teach me!
The simple tutorials are best, given my experience, but being that I have a boy, I love hearing about yours and projects for them. I think you did a field bag (perhaps based on someone else’s) out of cargo pants. I’d love to see more boy projects like that!
Happy belated blogiversary! I love the new blog redesign too. It’s great to stop by and absorb a little of your creativity and spark, which always stirs up new ideas in me as well!
hi
i really like your blog
i like the tutorials you give’ they really help me

I love your tutorials- they jumpstart a lot of projects here. Also, the little snapshots of your life. I like knowing that you are “real”
I’m new to your blog, but so far I agree with everyone else-I love the tutorials. Whenever an artist shares their tutorials, it’s such a generous act! (I also know it’s a lot of work!) The new header is lovely.
Congrats on three years. I only wish I would have found your blog back then. Love the tutorials and have tried many of them. As for improvments – just keep it fresh (which you seem to have no problem doing). Thanks for all the inspiration!
[email protected]
happy blogiversary!!
I have not been reading your blog for even half that time but I do go to it almost daily and enjoy it immensely.
Hi there. I just found your blog recently (I think I read about it on the Lime & Violet Daily Chum), but so far I love it! I really enjoy the tutorials on making items that are reusable (like the sandwich wraps) or that recycle items you already have laying around the house (I can’t wait to make a few of those pillowcase tank tops). Also, I’m new to sewing, so I love that your instructions are so easy to understand. Great stuff!
[email protected]
Congrats!!! I love the blog for its creative inspiration mostly, but I guess if I had to pick, I’d look for reusing tutorials, and quickie projects, and felting… Which you’re really already doing!! So, keep it up!! xo,dana
I love tutorials! The pillow case top is adorable. I look forward to seeing more.
Congrats on 3 years!
I really like tutorials using wool felt 🙂
Wow! That means I’ve been reading for very close to 3 years. Congratulations to you. Thank you for all of your sharing. I’ve never looked at repurposeing the same way since finding your Blog.
You are such an inspiration and your tutes are so much fun to read and look at! I can’t believe you’re blogging three years already! Congratulations! I come here several times a week and am never disappointed.
I live in Florida, so it’s hard for me to find old woolies, but that doesn’t stop the drool factor at all!
I look forward to the day I can make many of the items you’ve shared and hope to find many more here and in your books!
Leelee
Happy blogiversary! I love your blog for the photos, tutorials and the inspiration to try new things and see old things in new ways!
Your tutorials are some of my all time favorites! I love everything you create!
WOW! Three years!?!?! And I can’t believe I’m just finding out about you in the blogesphere! How could I have missed it?
I’ve truly enjoyed your posts for the week and a half I’ve been following, so no suggestions here! I would love to receive your new book, for certain!
Good luck!
I love your blog and all your ideas. I even love the occasional glimpse into life with your kids… so, no suggestions from me. Checking your latest post is a fun quick escape from the routine with three kids under 4.
The thing I love best about your blog is your optimistic and happy attitude. You make me feel that I can accomplish things and I can find small pleasures…you make me feel creative on days I don’t!
I would say just keep it up…and that’s not just flattery to win! 🙂
(But I sure would love to!!)
[email protected]
I love all the things you include on your blog! It’s always colorful, innovative, and warm. Thanks for adding to my reading enjoyment!
i love to see your studio and all your current projects, congrats on 3 years of such an inspiring blog.
Happy Three Years! You and your blog make a wonderful pause from daily life for a whole lotta people!
I like (very much) that you take ordinary objects and turn them into extraordinary projects. Like old tired sweaters into cupcakes, plastic bags into useful totes, scraps into sweet pins and ornaments. You leave the world better in the process by recyling in ways that are attractive and clever to boot!
My only suggestion: can you post at least ten times a day????? Okay, maybe five. I’d settle for two though to allow for you to be mother and wife.
love to be entered!
love your site!
God bless,
CathieB
I love dropping by your blog… always inspiring, ideas galore. I particularly like the recycling ideas… and the deceptively simple ones that I can follow straight from your instructions if I feel like doing some ‘guided sewing’ but also at the same time spark off all sorts of ideas if I feel like being a bit more adventurous… well done on three years, and here’s to many more!
I love everything about your blog! I love repurposing in a crafty way – I first taught a recycled sweaters class in 1992! I love the tutorials and the way they share some of your process. And I love the look – clean, clear & simple but still lovely.
Happy Blogiversary! 3 years is longer than many relationships and for that, I commend you 🙂
Your witty way with word brings me back every day (okay, several times a day) and I always want more! I love the pillowcase tutorials and am always looking for ways to reuse what I already have and make it something better or at least more useful!
Love the new header- I’ve made some bird nests myself, slightly modifying them and my sister even made cute little bird cake toppers (love birds!) for her wedding cake, inspired by the nests. Keep up the amazing work!
Peace in and peace out~
Valerie
I enjoy the visuals of the blog. A nice photo of a new project always cheers me up. I also like seeing what’s new in the shop or what new direction you might be going in.
I do also like the happy tone as well. I guess most of us don’t read blogs to listen to someone complaint but I think it’s a challenge to be happy in your words and still come off as real.
Thanks
Congrats on your three year Blogiversary! 3 years is more than many relationships weather so good for you!
Your witty way with words is what brings be back to your blog daily (okay, sometimes more than once a day…). I love the pillowcase tutorials and look forward to more ideas on how to reuse what we have and make it better- or at least more useful!
I love the new header- I have made many bird nests and my sister even made two little love birds to top her wedding cake (complete with a tux and veil) all inspired by the nests! Keep up the amazing inspirations!
Peace in and peace out,
Valerie
Congrats on THREE years! I really enjoy your blog and love seeing your creativity in each and every post. Repurposing and upcycling are two of the best things we can do for ourselves and your fresh ideas are great!
Congrats on THREE years! I really enjoy your blog and love seeing your creativity in each and every post. Repurposing and upcycling are two of the best things we can do for ourselves and your fresh ideas are great!
What do you mean, flattery will get me no where, tee hee? I do love the new blog header and always love your tutorials! But it’s fun just hearing tid bits of your life too…like your renewed studio (I ran out and bought the mag when it came out). What a fun giveaway, thanks for the chance!
Jamie 🙂
Happy 3 years! 🙂 Since I just found your blog last week, and haven’t been able to do a lot of “catching up”. I would have to say the tutorial–like everyone else is saying! I used to be a DIY girl years ago and I somehow fell out of it and haven’t done much since. Your blog reminds to try and tap into that side of my creativity again and I just bought some pretty fabric the other day to get me going. Thank you!! (lifewithcurls at gmail dot com)
Well, I haven’t been with the blog for three years, but I have have enjoyed the last 6 months……I have Warm Fuzzies and Sewing Green. Can you sometime show some pictures of you finding a hot stash or find at the thrift stores you go to. I would love to see that!!!
I’m a new reader, but I have loved looking over all of your tutorials. Keep ’em coming!
Congratulations on 3 years of blogging!
Congratulations and thank you for sharing so much with all of us. I think your blog is a nice mix of inspiration, tutorials, and life. Again thanks!
Man O Man, would I love to win a copy of your book!! I saw it at the bookstore the other day and read as much as I could right there. Then I detoured to the thrift store to pick up some wool sweaters to felt! Your blog is beautiful and always an inspiration.
Congrats!!
Love seeing all your ideas and daily goings on!
Favs – tutorials (great summer top one recently!) and also pics of where you craft! Love being nosy and seeing where all the ideas and inspiration comes from!
Congrats again!
Who knew you could do so much with a pillowcase! The big number 3 eh! Well done. I know keeping up a blog is hard work and you deserve a medal but I can see that you really enjoy what you do and maybe one day I can do what I love full time. I love the tutorial…maybe some very basic “how To” ones for learners.
Here’s to the next three :O)

I love the photos. Even if it’s not a tutorial – or even a project. I love to see others’ photos and get inspired by them.
Simple tutorials for beginners would be great! And advice on what type of sewing machine to buy– I’m definitely a beginner but very interested in learning more about sewing!
Happy Anniversary!! You are always so inspiring in your use of colors and materials. I just say, Keep it up! Thank you for all you do!
I love your blog !!!
More great photos, more tutorials. MORE MORE MORE !!!!
Love your blog!! Would love to see more tutorials of all kinds-thanks so much!
I love all your posts! I’m from spain and I’m really like to see the ideas from people abroad because here in spain is difficult to find the materials and books that people of your country show us.
Most I like are the tutorials, and less I like is nothing!
Congrats on your blogiversary! I love your inspiring ideas- keep up the good work.
Congratulations on the last three years! I am always happy to see more tutorials. Thanks for the giveaway!
Congratulations on 3 years! What do I enjoy seeing most on your blog? Everything you do! Your projects are so beautiful, the colors vibrant and mostly easy and practical too. You have inspired me to try my hand at some felted and recycled projects too. Thanks for sharing your gift for making beautiful things with so many:>)
Congrats on 3 years!! I just love reading your blog. I feel inspired every time I read a post whether it is a tutorial or something you are working on or even just the photos you share. Just keep it coming!
Congratulations on 3 years blogging – wow!
I love your tutorials – my favourite is the sandwiche wrap, very clever.
Congratulations on 3 years and 2 books! I love the tutorials — I’ve learned that needle felting isn’t so scary after all (even if the needles are the tiniest bit scary).
kelli
I just can’t get enough of your tutorials. I know it is a lot of work to write, but we just love them. Congrats on a lovely blog, and best wishes with your book.
I really enjoy your tutorials and would love to see more of those. Your creativity is very inspirational.
How to choose? I love everything. I love that you are willing to share with us so unselfishly! If I had to pick a favorite, I would have to say it would have to be the lovely items you have made with the pillowcases. I also love the sandwich wrap. I am making these for my kids.
First of all, I am loving your blog (I’m a new reader), and I’m looking forward to reading your book whether I win it or not! As for subject matter, I do hope you’ll tell us all about the Squam Art Workshops–I am jealous of everyone who can go! It’s too far for me to travel from Central Texas.
And to the earlier commenter asking about teacher gifts for men: my hubby is a teacher (high school) and he loves to get food or coffee. Or gift cards for food or coffee. It is so true that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach! And teachers tend to drink a lot of coffee.
Thanks and hugs to all!
I just enjoy the variety of things. The projects, the tutorials, photos of everyday things, things that you like or that inspire you.
I love the way you take something unattractive (a faded pillowcase, a shrunken sweater…a plastic bag) and transform it into something gorgeous! Makes me want to look at things in a whole new way!!
I just found your blog recently, but I love all the tutorials you have. It’s great to see artists sharing!
happy blog birthday!! i love your work and it was a pleasure to meet and learn from you at spool… since i already have a copy of your amazing book pick someone other than me so they can learn to have fun with the old and make it new.
I have really loved seeing the way you repurpose objects. I share a deep love of thrifting and looking in unusual places for things that might be turned into something completely different (I don’t think I’ve ever bought linen that wasn’t first a skirt or a dress, etc.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Congratulations! I LOVE your tutorials. I used info from when you embellished your wool skirt to applique scraps of thrifted sweaters onto zippered pouches this year for teacher gifts. I used thrifted sheets for the pouch linings. Thanks for all the inspiration!
Happy blogiversary to you…
Happy blogiversary to you…
Happy blogiverary to you dear Betz…
Happy blogiversary to you!
And many more……
I love your posts about embellishing garments with felted wool. I cannot get enough of your felted wool projects and inspiration.
HI, I am new to reading you blog. I began about three months ago and haven’t missed an entry yet. I really enjoyed your travel pictures of what inspired you. I also love the tutorials on recycling clothing and old things into gifts. I am truly encouraged to craft and use what I have by your blog. Thanks for all the hard work!
Happy blogiversary!
i like the tutes but i also enjoy your everyday talk.
I love tutorials & photos. I am a good sewer, but not a great one, and need instructions. I love tips too. Any kind of sewing tip for quilting, home decor, clothing making…thanks for all you post on your blog. I visit all the time.

Congratulations on three years! Today I deleted several blogs from my “follow” list. I just realized that I actually ADDED your blog, though!
Congratulations on 3 years! I stopped by tonight to make the pillowcase top (finding the elastic thread was a challenge … it was out of stock everywhere … weird). I can’t think of a thing to change. 🙂
I love your blog. love the tutorials. [email protected]
Congrats on the Big 3!
I love your blog just the way it is!
I am new to your blog, so I really can’t comment on things I would want to see more of or less of. I do love seeing all of the things that you make.
I love the tutorials!
I’d love it if you’d talk more about your creative process. You come up with all sorts of projects (and so many!!) that I wonder where they all come from!
I have been working 11 days straight on renovating my house and have a good 5 or so to go so my answer here is going to be simple…more tutorials! easy ones- hard ones- whatever… just more more more…I eat them up!
Yay for giveaways. I LOVE this blog. You’ve totally inspired me with the use of materials and I get to blame you when my husband complains about all the wool sweaters that are overtaking a closet, dining room, and laundry room :)It’s Betz’s fault, I say.
My favorite is definitely the projects you make using felt. I also would love to know more about your creative process.
Congrats on your three year anniversary! So many great stories and accomplishments her to celebrate. I always love your tutorials, especially that drawstring bag. I would also love to hear more about your inspirations.
I would love to be entered into your Sewing Green giveaway! I have been reading your blog for a few years now and really enjoy the felted tutorials you have created. I have your book, Warm Fuzzies, and have made several of the projects. I also enjoy thumbing through it for creative inspiration. Thank you!!

Congratulations on three years. What I love most about your blog is that it’s real, by which I mean you do things we all feel we can have a go at; your tutorials are simple and straightforward yet create things that are just spectacular. I also love that you re-use so much, I love to re-use and change something from one thing into another. Thanks Betz.

I enjoy the refashioning/repurposing ideas and tutorials. Would especially enjoy things for little girls.
D’oh. I think Blogger ate my comment! Anyway, it was briefly, a Congratulations!! I come for the eye candy (wonderful finished projects) mostly. Tutorials are great too, but I already have so much I want to do, and not enough time 😉
Love your sense of humour and am enjoying tweeting with you. Your new book looks fabulous and I really really want one….please can you sign it for me?
Betz,
My comment yesterday disappeared into cyberspace. Thanks so much for your blog, for sharing your creativity and for the great writing and photography. I never heard of re-purposing sweaters until I found your blog in April 09. Since, I have made two cupcake pincushions, one cup-of-joe (a gift for my mom who taught me to sew) and a purse! I would love to win a copy of your book.
Diane
happy blogiversary! I love reading your blog for inspiration…great photos, good writing – keep it all coming!
Hi congrats on 3 years of blogging – I really love all your tutorials and cant wait for more

Congrats on your blog anniversary and your book! I just recently found your blog through twitter. Love all the wonderful tutorials. The felted acorns are adorable!
BTW, I love your new banner. It’s a keeper!
Hope you sell lots and lots of your book! 🙂
Congratulations on 3 years! I have your first book and would love to add Sewing Green to my collection! You are very generous with your tutorials and my favorites are repurposing everyday household items, ei pillowcases. And, I have to admit, I come for the eye candy as well. Would love to see more simple clothing patterns.
well done on three years. I just enjoy your blog the way it is. I am normally just a lurker here but I really like the cover of your book. It looks very homey and warm, so I thought I might try for a win. Thank you for offering it.
Jules
Oh, your blog is perfect! Keep up the great work! Cheers on your anniversary.
Betz, I love everything about your blog. Love that you share tutorials with us. Love the way you write … as if I were sitting on your couch and we had known each other for years and were just chatting. Love the fact that you use up so much recycled stuff. Hmmm, guess the only complaint would be that there isn’t a new post every day; however, I totally understand that you do have a life so I would not expect that. Thanks for all the great tips and such. Oh, and Happy Belated Anniversary!!!
You have already had lots of comments so hope you actually get as far as reading mine! What I like about your blog is the ideas it gives me that I might be able to do some of these things if not the same, similarly to how you have.
I love seeing what you do with felt scraps. After making a batch of cupcakes I’m left with a huge bag of delicious scraps that I’m slowly using up (making flowers and whatnot) and I’d love more quick ideas.
I love all of the tutorials but even your pics of scraps and works in progress are inspirational!
Hello! Comment number 1 zillion probably… but I do want to let you know: happy blogaversary!! And I love your work and reading your blog. I have your first book and have used a lot of your ideas so far, so a big thank you! THANK YOU!
And three wonderful years they have been! Congratulations on reaching 3 years!! Your ideas have definately inspired me and many others.

I like seeing the tutorials on your blog. I must admit that I have just recently started following your blog and found it through a tutorial on reusing target bags to make a sturdy grocery tote. I’d love to see more tutorials!
I love your blog. You inspire me to freshen up mine. Congratulations, thank you for the tutorials and lovely books.
I love repurposing good materials, so the tutorials and ideas of how to do that are great! Just made one of your cupcakes with my daughter a few weeks ago. It was a really fun project for us to do together, but we only had craft felt on hand. Since then I’ve been browsing thrift stores and now have a nice stash of really beautiful wool sweaters, even some cashmere – I’m so excited! Thanks for the inspiration.
Don’t change a thing! I love the variety and enjoy reading about your adventures with felt AND family! Happy Wednesday, Betz!
You are truly a wonderful teacher from the classes you teach to the lessons you teach your little boys. I took one of your classes a few years ago at the Textile Center in Mpls, MN. Ever since then I have become infatuated with wool and what it can become with a little imagination. My local Savers store has become my source of wool (and many other items). Your tutorials are so exacting and easy to follow-I just made two cake stands and gave one away as a gift to a delighted friend. My daughter is a talented jewelry maker and seamstress and is getting your newest book for her birthday next week.
Thanks again, Kristi
I just love your ideas! Now that weather is cool (here in Chile) I’m turning to all the felt projects and just love each of them! Just keep doing what you do!
I think you’re doing everything right. It’s pretty, informative, fun, educational, and funny. Thanks, Betz. We need more bloggers like you!

I love the tutorials, keep them coming! I am a sewing newbie so I love anything that gives me the opportunity to learn. 🙂
I am working my way thru the warm fuzzies book. I love the easy to read directions so I would say keep the tutorials coming. And the humor, I like your writing style.
karen
Congratulations!
I love all of the eye candy. Your beautiful projects, the fun colors, your sense of style. The eye candy keeps me coming back! 🙂
I love your blog and “Warm Fuzzies”. I wish I had half the creativity you do. Thanks for sharing your talents with us and please enter me in your giveaway!
I love your blog and “Warm Fuzzies” and wish I had half the creativity you have. Thanks for sharing your talents with us! Please enter me in your drawing!
Thank you Kristi! So sweet of you.
Betz
I love the tutorials and seeing variations on your ideas…ya know, where you show one thing and then several more variations that came from the original. Thanks for sharing all your creative efforts!
Your tutorials are wonderful!! Thank you!
I love the tutorials and photos of inspiring fun fabric/retro prints you find thrifting. Anything having to do with felting is always a big hit with me. Keep creating and sharing those great ideas with us!
Thank you.
I love everything on your blog! You are the one that got me started “felting those wool Goodwill sweaters” and I love it. I generally don’t pay attention to what the heading is or any other cute stuff. I’m interested in what you are doing.
I love the tutorials, so please keep them coming. I would also like to see more articles on repurposing.
I have to go check out the pillowcase tutorials. We have been on vacation without speedy internet access so I haven’t visited any of my blogs since May 13. Yep…blog withdrawal. 🙂
Thanks for being you and for sharing.
Lynn 🙂
Thank you so much for hosting the giveaway and congratulations! I love all of your creative ways to use pillowcases! Thanks again!
you had me at hello…uh, I mean… the thrift store cake stands. I’ve been hanging out here ever since. LOVED seeing your new pillowcase tutorial.

grupi I’m a grupi! (groupy)
HI Betz! Congrats! Well, I love to see more of your felt creations….love to see posts about your inspiration…love to see what your travels are like around where you live since I live in the same state…I think I’ve been a fan for three years too…
And I have a million of your pincushions to show for it. xo Susan
Looking forward to taking your class in the Fall!
What a lovely blog. I love the nests, wish I was one of those teachers!! 🙂 I’m thinking that blog years are like dog years only because they seem to be filled with so much information and growth. I am two thirds of the way through my first year of blogging and I’ve learned so much along the way that it feels much longer!
Congratulations on three years of blogging! I love your tutorials for making “green” stuff! I really love those little nests, too! Thanks.
I love the tutorials, and the photos of your finished projects; both give me creative inspiration!
I love your tutorials! Congrats on three years, or 21 dog years!

I heard your name through sewing school and love the felt necklace. Wow! I would love to check out your book for more inspirations. Thanks for a chance to win. [email protected]
I love your tutorials. Very easy to understand. i also appreciate your passion for repurposing/reusing things. It helps all of us think of little ways that we can reduce consumption. Keep up the good work!
I found your blog a few weeks ago, and I’m hooked! Just before you posted about items sewn from pillowcases, I had been on a thrift store pillow case collecting binge (something in the spring air, I guess), and I was thrilled to see wonderful things to make from those lovelies. I also adore your felt creations and am inspired to make some felt creations. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us!
I love seeing whatever projects you are working on, or have finished (of any type). And since I’m a mother of boys also, I never mind hearing about your little guys.
Betz,
I love, LOVE your work…….your creativity and insight into upcycling is genius:) Your blog is so warm and friendly and easy to navigate. I especially love the tutorials…….the excitement of making something new is awesome…thanks so much.
Laurie ([email protected])
happy blogisverary and thanks. i recently bought your book … which is quite something for me … i’m a penny-pinching library (and borders) user and always review a book thoroughly before buying it usually concluding that either 1- i have too many books and projects already or 2 – having seen the idea i can pretty much figure out my own way to make it. but i was so taken by your generousity in mentioning and supporting others that i just had to do my tiny bit of the same. if i win … i’ll be able to pass the book on. one of my favorite posts of yours was about the sandwich wraps … not the how to so much as the why — the statistics and such … something we can each think about impacting in our own communities and schools
Congratulations on the publication of your newest book. I bought Warm Fuzzies when it first came out and love the projects in that book. I’ve enjoyed and appreciated the tutorials that you’ve posted on this blog. In fact, your tutorials inspired me to include tutorials on my blog. I wish you continued success.
Love the new header and as a teacher and fiber fan, I would love to have your kids in my class! The blog is great already. Love the tutorials.
Jen
LOVE the tutorials; only wish I had time to make them all. But they are inspiring. I also have enjoyed following your success with the books, Martha, etc. Congrats on the blogversary.
