One day when our oldest son was a toddler, he proclaimed that he wanted a “win sure”. We scratched our heads, “Did he say wincher?”. “Wind shirt?” As adorable as that insistent little voice was, we were frustrated. “Honey, you want a what???”
I WANNA GO ON A WIN SURE!
Sooner or later, we figured out that he wanted to go on an adventure. Ohhhhh, an adventure! Yes! Of course! Let’s go on one right away! Oh life with toddlers, babies, children of any age… isn’t that an adventure in itself?
Well, I’m going on a *win sure* this week, although it’s not of the toddler variety. For the first time I will be attending the International Quilt Market, being held this year in Minneapolis. Two times a year fabric companies, quilt shops, distributors, fabric and pattern designers, etc. attend this trade show to buy and sell all things fabric-y and good in the sewing world. I want to be a part of that goodness!
Tomorrow I am heading out, bags packed full of my new, soon to be released, sewing patterns! My longtime and loyal readers have heard me talk about this before, so you know that it’s been a-comin’. (I think the first time I mentioned this dream was almost a year ago. Wow. What have I been doing?)
My sewing pattern line is called Make New or Make Do™. Each pattern is designed in a way so that it can be made with new fabric or by repurposing a second hand garment. (Think along the lines of Sewing Green.) I will be making my patterns available for wholesale to retailers and distributors, which I am very excited about! (By the way, if you are a shop owner, please email me and I will follow up with you after the show!)
I’m sure right about now you’re thinking of scrolling down for a sneak peek…but I am not quite ready for the full reveal. (if you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen a little snip of something….) In fact, upon my departure, I will be putting my etsy shop *on vacation* while I am away. When I get back in a few days, I will re-open the shop and list the new patterns for your ordering pleasure. So stay tuned for that.
I’ve got business cards, promotional flyers, and sewn samples of my styles to show off. My bags are packed, my iPod is synced, and I’m rarin’ to go. Wish me luck on my new “win sure”!
P.S. I just want to say a special huge giant thank you to my dear hubby who has been working tirelessly with me on this crazy “win sure” of mine. Without his help I never would have pulled this together. Thank you, Honey!!!!!
Have a great time Betz! I hope it’s all you’ve dreamed of!
have fun on your win-sure. 🙂
Have a fantastic time- I would love to be there- it sounds like fabric heaven!
In your list of things you have ready to go, I didn’t see, “…and my friend Jan is in my suitcase…” Drat, that means I’m definitely not going on this win sure! But, YOU ARE, Betz, and I’m very, very excited for you! With all your gumption and talent, you’re making things happen and this win sure is certain to lead to a ‘win fall’ of exciting opps and ideas for future Betz White Productions!!! Can’t wait! Rock that house B.
Go blow them away, Betz! They’re going to love you and all the goodness you’re bringing! A sure win if I ever hear one. Happy win sure!xo
OOOHHH I can’t wait to see what you have..
Have a great time. They will love you.
Have a great “win sure”! With my grandson it was “good eye guy”! It took us forever to figure out that he was saying “good idea”! 9 years later we still refer to a good idea as a good eye guy! Happy for you!
Have a fantastic time Betz, much much success!!! We want to hear all about it when you’re back.
Enjoy your adventure and we’ll look forward to the full reveal.
Good luck Betz! I’m SURE you’re on to a WINner. Don’t you just love how those little misfires of kids become part of your family language!

It’s so exciting that you are going but for me I was able to find out about the Quilt Show in Ohio and I am close enough that I could go. Thanks and can’t wait to read about your adventure in Minneapolis!
I can’t wait to hear all about it!
Congratulations Betz! You should be totally proud of yourself. I hope everything goes well for you. Be safe and try to have a fun trip, even though you are probably stressed out to the max right now! =)
You’re kids are growing up believing that anything is possible with enough ambition! I am sure they we all have plenty of win sures because of your guidance!
It’s amazing how often our mini-me’s can give us the right perspective. With all your preparation and talent, you’re on a “win-sure” for sure. Good luck!
