I am so appreciative of your warm response to my online workshop announcement for Felt & Stitch Holiday 2010! Many of you have signed up lickity-split and I thank you! A few have you have taken the time to email me with questions. I thought I’d post them here, in case a few others were wondering the same things.
I am sooo busy, what if I can’t find the time?
No worries! Feel free to take the class at you own pace. The class content will be posted Mondays and Wednesdays from October 18th until November 12th, but you may access the information any time through the end of the year! The beauty of an online class is that you can participate when the time is right for you. You can even attend in your pajamas, no one will know. (in fact, I encourage it!) Even if you only have time to read the posts, watch the videos and print out the pdfs, you’ll have everything you’ll need to make the projects this season or any other time.
What level of participation is required?
As much or as little as you’d like! Some of you are looking for a place to make great stuff, connect with others and share your work, Great! Still, others would prefer to “sit in the back of the class” as it were, and observe. That’s fine too. I welcome you to craft away quietly in the background. Keep in mind though that I will be on hand and at your service ready to respond to your comments and questions if need be!
Is this for me?
If youβve enjoyed my books and the projects on my blog over the years, this is for you. If you have some basic sewing skills and have felt, fabric and trim scraps in your stash, then this is for you. If youβre ready to get started on your holiday crafting, letβs get started!
What did the class members say about it last year?
In 2009, participants from 11 different countries gathered online for my first Felt & Stitch Holiday Online Workshop! Hereβs what just a few of them had to say about it:
“My daughter and I signed up for this together and have enjoyed talking each week about it… I can’t even imagine the amount of work that went into the making of the projects, let alone the videos!! I was expecting some great crafts, but the videos made such a great addition. I’m been crafting a long time, but with your super videos, I picked up some great tips. The pdfs and rest of the directions were wonderful, too. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you have put into this workshop.”
~ Janet, North Carolina
“Thank you so much for doing this workshop! I have enjoyed every minute! I found all of your instructions to be very clear and easy to follow and the video demonstrations were so helpful. I really feel that I have learned so much and you offered such a wonderful variety of techniques and ideas.”
~ Katherine, North Carolina
“I think the workshop was wonderful. Thank you for all the effort you put into this. The materials, patterns and tutorials were great. The projects were very usable and have been fun to make. My daughter has loved seeing what I would create when I had all my βstuffβ out to work on the different projects.”
~ Nicole, Colorado
“Thank you very much for sharing all those ideas and being so helpful with tips and advice. I really enjoyed the workshop and seeing the how differently the things turned out in the Flickr pool. Itβs amazing to think that today itβs so easy to work together with like-minded people from all over the world β and while Iβm already posting this here from Germany you guys are just getting up and getting started⦔
~ Mareike, Germany
“Even though my work has filled my days and nights over the course of this workshop, I knew that Mondays and Wednesday I could take a short break, watch your video, and plan when to try the projectsβ¦.even if I was traveling for business. The workshop website is beautifully laid out, your videos are clear, and the projects what Iβm come to expect from reading your blog.”
~ Patricia, New Jersey

I really want to make some of the pinecones. I think a group of pincones would make a great gift for so many people.
I’m a sucker for a giveaway! I really love the trees. I’m crazy about trees!
The pine cones are so cute. Thanks for the opportunity!
I really like the trees, and the poinsettia, I love the felted hats! So many fun things!
Frankly, I’m most impressed with how you made the sequins on the Christmas trees light up and sparkle!!!!
I love the poinsettia brooch/gift topper. So elegant!!!
The workshop looks like so much fun! I’ve admired the trees since last year but I think I like the pinecones the best. You can reach me at ttthorme at yahoo dot com. I hope the workshop goes well!
I LOVE the felted trees and pine cones! What a great way to decorate for the holidays! I also love the angel ornaments. I’d love to win a spot in this year’s workshop!
Love the poinsettia!!
Its so hard to choose! I really love the felted brooch/gift topper but the pinecones and angel ornaments are so cute too!
Oooh I love giveaways! My favorite project would have to be the caps/hats. Those are soo cute!
Those angels are so… angelic! I did an angel themed tree with my mom a few years ago. Fun fun. Thanks for the giveaway!
HI BETZ,

I think I like the Jack Horner pie the best. Great way to hide a gift in plain sight!
Those white trees are so elegant!!
It’s a toss up between the poinsettia brooch and the angels! Great stuff!

I’m intrigued by the “Little Jack Horner Pie Centerpiece”. Growing up, we had a family tradition that after we ate Christmas dinner we had what we called “Tom Thumb Pie”. It was small inexpensive gifts, tied with ribbon and pulled from a sleigh. Maybe it started out as a pie, like your “Little Jack Horner Pie Centerpiece”?? I would love to win your class and make one for my family!! :o)
Toss up between the poinsettia brooch and the angels…. Cute!
merideathx (at) hotmail (dot) com
How can I pick one? I love the jack horner pie design for myself. But, I would give away lots of little pouches. I love the pointsettia a whole lot, too. Everyone should have one on their winter coat!
thats a geat giveaway indeed! =)
i rather like the trees with skinny leaves!
I love the felted tree but any small ornaments are definitely up my alley!
Jaime
what a giveaway!
love that poinsettia…beautiful!
My favourite is the little brooches. Totally cute!
Saw your tweet about the giveaway before I had a chance to look at your blog post – I would love to take this with one or all three of my daughters – it would be a great long-distance holiday activity! And many of them are, shall we say, not vulnerable to as much destruction at the hands of toddlers as is much of the other holiday decor!
Dear Betz,
While I want to make all the projects, I love the cap with needle-felted accents most! I am a swimmer who doesn’t own a hair dryer….I wear hats to protect from the cold on the way home from the pool. That particular project would be the best for me to try! Thanks for making the projects available at home! Sincerely, Ida
The pinecones and the pointsettia are my favorites – so sweet! Thanks for the inspiration and the offer!!!
alscoville at gmail dot com
I really loved the Santa napkin holders – so adorable and just so, so festive! Thanks for the chance to get to attend the workshop!
I love the poinsettia, but they are all adorable – thanks!
It’s tough to choose between the projects, but the one I am most exited to proudly display once I create it is the poinsettia. I’ve signed up already and can already envision how a white one would look against my red wool coat!
http://www.dibride.com.blogspot.com
Love all the projects. They are so colorful but my favorites are the felted hat and the trees.
They’re all so great! I can’t pick one. So, my favorite two are the trees and the poinsettia π
I love the pine cone ornaments but the Jack Horner pie centerpiece is so intriguing! I hope to win a spot!
Oh what fun! The pinecones, the trees…me and my daughters would love this workshop!
Oops! forgot to leave my email for the giveaway!
annettahess (at) gmail (dot) com
Sure hope I win!
What a beautiful slideshow! I would love to learn to make the trees both green and white!
I have a huge felted sweater stash that I could make hats for everyone I know. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I think the Christmas trees are my favorite project, with the pine cones a close second! I am amazed and inspired by your posts and projects, and just checked out your green sewing book from the library! Thank you!
oooooo, a giveaway! how sweet. now, i would be taking this course for the pinecones….i love the trees and the little change purses speak quite loudly to me as well, but it is the pinecones that are whispering my name…i am a sucker for all things leaves, and pine cones are close…good luck to all!
I think I’ll pick the pretty trees…no wait…the pine cones… no maybe the Santa napkin rings… oh gosh how about the Jack Horner center piece!
I love the poinsettia brooch/gift topper and the Santa napkin holders! So cute! I can’t wait to make them as gifts this year. π
I really like the felted trees! So pretty!!
I’m torn between the angels and the pie, but I think the angels win. These are such cute projects and I’d love to win your giveaway and participate this year!
I love the pine cone ornaments – they are really my style and would be perfect as a winter ornament in my window and not only for Christmas.
They are all adorable! But I think I love those little angels the best. I can see myself making dozens of those!
All the projects look amazing, but I think my favorite is the Jack Horner pie. It looks amazing and I know my family would love it!
Oh my goodness, I just saw your tweet and knew I had to see what this workshop was about! I love every single thing that is being created in this workshop, and it’s perfect because me and my husband just moved into a really small apartment so I don’t think we will be able to put up a Christmas Tree this year, but these felt pieces will be perfect to have around the house to bring the Holiday cheer into our home!
I love everything, but I am really excited about the hats. They look so easy and fun! I am going to go sign up right now!
My favorites are the cute little pouches and trees. I’m already signed up and I have some felt and vintage buttons ready to use. Can’t wait!
Pinecones! Pinecones! Oh, I love them!!! π
Pinecones for sure. So sweet!
So many cute things! The Santa napkin holders caught my eye because I noticed the Santa mug in the picture. We had a set of those when I was a kid.
I also really like the felt pouches.
Honestly, I love all the projects! But the pinecones are very creative.
I would adore to win this!
I definitely love the hat, but all of the other projects are adorable as well! It’s hard to choose. π
I looove the poisetta. Beautiful.
I LOVE the little pouches! Thanks! I hope I win. Your work is beautiful.
I love the little pouches…so cool
The pinecones are lovely. I love them in the natural earthy tones and white. However, I can also see them in pinks and purples and reds, which would look great on my vintage pink foil tree.
I think my favorite is currently the trees — but that could change tomorrow!
That’s such a hard choice – there were so many I liked, but I’d have to go with the pinecones!
I love the angels and the Santa napkin holders! Hope I win!
I have to choose a favorite??? I adore them all, but I’m especially drawn to the poinsettia brooches and the felted hats.
So many favorites but I’ll narrow it down to angels, hats and pouches. I couldn’t pick just one!
Definitely the trees. I love them in every color!
The poinsettias was my instant favourite, so creatively made! The little purses are also great since they can be altered and made in so many variations!
I do so love those Christmas trees! too cute
I really, really want to learn the poinsettas! And the santas are so cute!
Well, that really is unfair to ask us to choose just one! Because I love the pine trees, poinsettia and pine cones! And the little poiuch, and….
Thanks for the giveaway!
I LOVE the slideshow. And if I had to pick just one project, it would be the Jack Horner centerpiece. So clever π Best wishes with the workshop!

I love the hats!! I would love to make a hat for my daughter and my nephews and niece. So much fun π
[email protected]
I think I like the Poinsettia the best with the trees and pinecones coming in tied for second. Though I do agree with another poster, it’s unfair to ask because they are all so cool!! π
I like the little felt pouches! I hope I win!
The pinecones would be great to learn how to make, and wouldn’t hurt as much as the real thing, when accidentally stepped on!
Oh, it’s so difficult to choose a favorite, but I just love the poinsettia gift topper/brooch! Love it!

I would love to make those cute little trees. Definitely my favorite. I also love all of the needle felting detail on the hats!
My favorite is the hat. They would make great gifts. Cute smilebox!
I want to join this workshop! My favourite projects are two: christmas trees and the poinsettia. Thanks for the opportunity!
[email protected]
I really like the felted pouch for gifts. Most fav is Charlie Brown song and yo-yo’s lighting up on Christmas tree, the presentation was awesome.
WOW!!! So many WONDERFUL projects and many great techniques I’d be learning!
Favorite …ooo tough … have to go with the (drumroll, please) SANTA NAPKIN HOLDERS — love the personalities!!! The little felted pouches are too cute and the trees would look awesome by my fireplace.
You are so creative!!!
my favorite project are the trees! they are so wonderful in all their fullness ~ I also like the hats a lot. Really wonderful projects!
thanks for the giveaway!
I love the little pine trees. Especially the all white ones your student did last year. I think they would be fun in a deep purple.
Thanks for the opportunity!

The lovely white trees are my favorite!!
All of the projects look like so much fun, to make and to give, but I think my favorite is the hat!
didi7g at yahoo dot com
I signed up because last year Erin told me it was a great workshop and that she really enjoyed it. My favorite project is the pinecones. My four-year-old son asks to watch the video over and over again.
I love the white trees and the poinsettia brooches. Thank you so much for the giveaway!
Although I love the poinsettia, I absolutely adore the Jack Horner pie. How much fun it would be to hide little treats for guests to pick out of the pie when they come to visit!
what beautiful work! I really like the pinecones…and the pouches would be my second favorite!
Thank you for offering the workshop!
Gee that’s such a hard choice. I really like the retro quality of the Santas and the angels but the pine cones seem really versatile in terms of turning them into tree ornaments, garlands, gift toppers or table arrangements.
I also like that you also included some more neutral palettes since not everyone uses primary colors during the holidays.
Pine cones are are the best. Espically when you live in Northern MN. Love your books I have made so many cupcake pincusions I lost count. They are espically cute to give as a no calerie desert.
Thanks π
awwww… thank you for the chance indeed.
I love brooches, hats and pouches. And all three would make perfect gifts for those around me.
Greetings from Slovenia!
hard to choose! We have a tradition where we make a small tree each year to add to the Christmas forest, so I think the cute trees would be a perfect project for this year.
This looks like fun!
every one I saw I thought was my favorite. loved the package topper but also the tree. [email protected]
The flower brooches are beautiful!!! And I adore the little pouches and the angels! Hope I can participate!
I think my favorites are the hat and the little purse-lots of potential to personalize these!
What a great idea!
Thanks for the giveaway. I love the pinecones and the poinsettia brook–esp. in the shades of white.
The angel, the angel! I would love to have that angel atop my tree. I really hope I win the free spot!
I really like the poinsettia brooch/gift toppers — the sophisticated poinsettia from the student work section is so pretty!
( … though I have to admit that I am also a huge sucker for pouches! )
Thanks for this opportunity!! Email is [email protected]
I love the pointsettias!
Seriously! You want me to pick one project! I guess my choice would be the trees/pinecones. Though I am oh so intrigued by the pie piece.
I’m a bit bummed I won’t be able to participate (thank you downsizing), so maybe fate will kick in & pull my number.
A girl can dream, right? π
My favorites are the Whimsical Felt Trees! π
I love the pinecones – they’re adorable! (My fingers are crossed!)
not.a.ship(at)gmail.com
I cannot choose between the pinecones, trees and poinsettia. I love all three!! I would be sooo happy to win a registration!!!
Betz, I took your class with Claudine in Alexandria and loooooved it! This class looks amazing, too! My favorite is the pine cones… I’m from Oregon so I have a fondness for pinecones. π
No doubt your workshop is lovely. π Thanks for giving away a spot.
I’d love to learn how to make the sweet pinecones.
ammieloris at hotmail dot com
I have to say the pine cones are too cute!
Wow, so many wonderful ideas! It would be a pleasure to win.
Micha from Germany
I would love to learn how to make the little felt pouches. I think these would make an awesome gift card holder, or even a library card wallet (I’m a librarian!).
I’m looking forward to making the cute purses …great for nieces and daughters at Christmas !
Well…hard to choose, but I wouldn’t have to choose if I won! Love the felt trees, if I need to pick just one! Thanks so much!
Pinecones, I want to make felt pinecones!
Thanks for the lovely giveaway. I would love to make those pinecones!
I have already signed up for the class and am looking forward to it! I love the felted hat and the little pouches – I’m looking forward to learning to needle felt!
I just LOVE the table trees!!!!! And the pine cones… all of it really!!!!!
I would love to win this giveaway!
Although there’s some other great choices, I really liked the simplicity and natural feel of the pinecones. I can see making enough of these for everyone this year!
Thanks for the generous giveaway!
My girls have just started to learn to sew 8 and 4 (baby steps) I showed them your card and they really love everything. I am going to register so maybe we can do it together.
Thanks for all the great ideas,
Misha

I really love the Poinsettias…AND the pinecones! Fantastic projects & thanks for the chance to win a spot in your workshop!
I loooove those Christmas trees! I missed the workshop last year…hope to make it in this year!
[email protected]
All are so cute! The poinsetia brooch is my favourite, and the pinecones. Oh! and the felt trees… all of them!
[email protected]
The class looks awesome. I love it all, but my favorite has the poinsettia. I especially loved the one in the video that was done with tone on tone colors. Just beautiful!
Just one question …do you need wool sweaters for any of the projects or can you use wool felt for all of them if you wish?
They all look great projects and I can see several gifts in the making, but my favourite, just for me thing, would be a poinsettia brooch/gift topper.
Thanks for such a generous giveaway π

Hi Adv. in Alice Land,
All of the projects can be made with craft felt except for the hat, which you could make from polar fleece if desired.
Hope you’ll join us!
Betz
Won’t you do a Felt & Stitch Holiday II? Pretty please.
Patricia
The trees are by far my favorite, I love anything nature related!
I just love the trees!!

lOVE THE TREES!!
Has to be the Santa napkin holders. They remind me of some my Granny made when I was little.
I adore the pinecones, but the trees are great too!
Hard to pick a favourite!
The little pouches if I have to pick ONE.
I too love the trees. My first time to your site and what a wonderful site indeed. Lots of inspiration for a quilter to get into felt.
I love the hat, although I think my children will adore the pinecones. I really hope to have the funds to take it this year. I missed out both times last year.

The angels are so sweet! What a great idea for handmade holidays!

Oh, I love the trees! I would LOVE to be able to join this class and share it with my daughters, especially my 9 yr old. We’re doing handmade Christmas this year so it would be perfect!

Sounds like a fun class.
The pinecones! But I also love the trees and the little pouches. Thank you! Looking forward to the class.
I love the trees – and the little pouches! All so cute!
Pinecones! *fingers and toes crossed*
It’s a hard choice but I think the poinsettia is gorgeous.
So hard to choose between the trees and the pine cones…but I think I will have to go pine cone! A bunch on the christmas tree would be so festive : ).
Your class looks like it would be a blast! I’d particularly love to learn how to make the white christmas trees!
Angels all the way hope I can still enter had internet problems.
