I love woodsy stuff…moss and lichen, ferns, old tree bark, acorns and fallen leaves. My new Coquille shawl reminds me exactly of those things. I finished knitting it just a few days ago.
If you click on over to Knitty.com you can see what this looks like worn. I used the same yarn and colorway as was shown in the pattern: Crystal Palace Mini Mochi in Fern Rainbow.
Fern Rainbow…what a perfect name.
It’s super soft and light weight. The pattern was fairly simple to knit with some short rows (to make the fluted edge) and easy increases/decreases. I’m so happy with this, I cannot wait for some cooler weather to wear it. Maybe I’ll put it on for a walk in the woods.
What should I knit next? Anything fun on your needles you’d like to share?
Just a bit of fun – I’m knitting little dogs at the minute. You can see one here:

I’m all signed up for your Christmas class and I’m looking forward to it very much.
What a gorgeous shawl!
I am a very novice knitter, but have accomplished pocket placemats, and baby blankets. I am currently on my first pair of socks. I believe I am turning into a sock-aholic!
Here are some of my knits:

Wow, this is so beautiful. I especially love the fluted edge. Makes me wish I could knit!
If you’re into shawls, check out any of Stephen West’s (Westknits)many shawl/scarf patterns on Ravelry. I’m in serious love with his designs aat the moment, especially since I have two adult sons to knit for!
…ma è bellissimo, i colori sono splendidi!
This is so beautiful! I’m just starting to learn to knit, and still working on my first project – a baby blanket for my son.

Maybe you’re sick of shawls by now, but have you seen the summit shawl? (search for it on ravelry– I’m not sure how to put a link here) Or the “Not a Drop” shawl? (it’s on ravelry too) I’ve got a baby due in a few weeks, so I’m busy with baby knitting, but next summer you can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be casting one of these lovelies on.
So beautiful.
Very beautiful,thanks
these are my colors….love that shawl! i believe you should make a slouchy hat…..think the slouchy hats worn by emma on the pbs series…the clothes were divine and i think those velvet hats would translate well to wool…lovely work betz…thanks for sharing!
gorgeous! lovely, pretty colours and very sensible (by that, i mean, while the lace shawls i see everywhere are so pretty, this one will actually keep the cold out!).
So beautiful!
Love the yarn,is it a good weight for a throw on the couch?
Hi Anonymous,
No, the yarn I used is more of a sock weight. I think it would be too delicate for a throw on a couch.
Betz
oh Betz, it’s beautiful! I went to etsy to look it up and there it was in my favorites! don’t even remember putting it in there ~ I’ve knitted about 12 shawls this year ~ this will be the next!
I absolutely love this shawl. I love those colors. I want to buy some of that yarn just to have around and look at. You did a fantastic job!
What a beautiful shawl! Something I have been wanting to knit for so long now.
Just gorgeous colors.
I’m just knitting some straight garter scarves with beautiful Nashua yarn. It’s process knitting – knit and knit and calm and peace and knit and quiet.
incredibly gorgeous!
this season brings with it such coziness, also one of my favorite times to be out in the woods!
