I developed Project Upcycle to share my love of repurposing secondhand items. I’ll show you what to look for at the thrift store (or in your own closet!) and teach you techniques for transforming them into fun, functional and stylish additions to your wardrobe. We’ll make 5 projects: a chic shrug and an adorable tote from two different types of sweaters, a clever wallet from shirtsleeve cuffs, a dapper cap from menswear, and a swingy skirt from a stash of vintage linens.

What are you waiting for? Grab your scissors, a seam ripper and a stash of cast-off clothing. Get ready to turn the mundane into something meaningful. You’ll feel smart, empowered and oh-so-clever! I hope you’ll join me and I can’t wait to see your one-of-a-kind creations!
Betz,
You wrote that you will teaching projects from “2 different types of sweaters.” Will you talk about how different types of sweaters felt? Will we learn more of what to expect after a sweater is felted, but before it actually happens. (Will it be thick or thin, pliable or stiff, ect.?) This is something that I am still learning.
Thanks,
Faith.
P.S. Love the skirt!
Hey Betz,
This doesn’t have much to do with your workshop but it does have to do with Christmas. I was wondering if you could post a tutoral on how to make some reindeer slippers.
Hi Cookmomster!
Yes! Both of my Craftsy courses (Project Upcycle and Fab Felt Holiday) discuss how to felt sweaters and what to expect. If you still have questions during the course you can always ask me specifics and I’m there to answer your questions.
Betz
Hi Anonymous,
Actually, I teach slippers (with instruction on a reindeer version!) in my Fab Felt Holiday course!
Betz
This looks like another wonderful course, packed with creativity and expertise that is synonymous with everything you do! That skirt is very, very cute!
Hi there, this is a great idea for a workshop, I hate throwing things away so turning old into new makes me smile.
Totally diggin’ the cap!
