Remember my 9 yr old and his sewing kit from last summer? Well, he pulled it out this week to make Thanksgiving gifts for 2 of his teachers.
All on his own accord…he came up with the projects, chose the materials, cut, stitched and glued each gift. I offered minimal help. He threaded his needle, tied his own knots, everything!
I’m thankful for his ambition and his big sweet heart. I’m thankful that he enjoys expressing his thankfulness.
I hope we can all find ways to show the people we care about how thankful we are to have them in our lives.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I love this. I mentor a 9-year-old at a Richmond City school. Trying to find a project where she would feel sucess I came up with a sewing project…we are working together to make a doll…she will be a Mali doll..the kids learn about Mali in 3rd grade. After sewing the doll we will dress her in African batik fabric, make glorious braids, and fantastic jewelry. So excited to do this.
Awww..so sweet! My 7 year old son has been stitching felted sweater coasters lately. I love it!
