My favorite azalea bush in the neighborhood |
May is anniversary month! My husband and I just shared our 17th wedding anniversary (see cute flashback photos here and here). And the ‘ol bloggy blog is celebrating it’s 6 year anniversary! My how time flies.
I’ve been meaning to put together a little survey for you. After six years, the blog has changed and evolved so much. At times I wonder, what is it that you come here for? What would you like to see more of? Time is so so fleeting for all of us, we’d like to make the best use of it, wouldn’t we?
Instead of some fancy-schmancy survey tool (that would take time for me to set up) I’m just going to ask you 3 questions to answer in the comments. Answer all 3 to be entered into a give-away for your choice of one of my pdf sewing patterns. The contest will close Friday May 11th at 5PM EST **Update! Leaving comments open through the weekend, Sunday May 13th 5PM EST**
when I will choose 3 winners! (please be sure to leave contact info if you win!) Contest is open to all countries, one entry per person.
Are you ready? Here are the questions, please give them some thought!
1) What kinds of posts do you enjoy reading on my blog? (aside from give-aways!)
2) What types of sewing patterns are you interested in (bags, toys, gifts, accessories, etc.)?
3) If you win this give-away, which pattern would you choose and why? (view them here)
Thank you so much for taking the time over the years to visit my blog, leave comments and share your support. Without you I’d be sitting here talking to myself. 🙂
***Thank you for your comments! Winners have been chosen and notified!***
I love to read about what you are doing with felt. There aren’t many people who do really fun things with felt so I really enjoy seeing what you are doing. I’m most interested in things made with felt, and most of the time that means ornaments or accessories. If I won, I would choose the Sweet Treats Ornaments pattern.
Your blog is the very first blog I began to read and subsequently follow. I found while googling around about felt.
1. I love reading about your repurposing projects, they are inspired.
2. I enjoy your hat and accessory patterns.
3. When I win 🙂 I will have a hard time choosing between the cadet cap and the woodland creature cuteness.
Keep up the great blogging!
Wow…I’m the first. Congrats on 17 years. This will be my 17th year as well.
1) keep blogging about your projects, everyday life, etc.
2) bags, gifts, accessories
3) reversible bucket hat
Congrats on 6 years as well!
1) I like to read about your crafts mostly, but also your inspiration. How you came up with the fabric designs for example. I think you fill a fantastic niche of green crafting and am inspired by that.
2) Everything. I know that’s helpful. 😉 The skirt you did recently looks amazing, so clothing, bags, accessories. Toys, while adorable, aren’t something I do.
3)The Caitlyn handbag. It’s a lovely shape, and I love, love, loved the one you did out of the old neckties.
1. I enjoy reading posts about tutorials.
2. I am interested in gift sewing patterns.
3. If I won I would pick the Caitlin
purse pattern because it is adorable!

3.Caitlyn Handbag, for sure!
I love reading abot the creative process and how you get ideas. I would love to see more stuffed animals and I would choose a bucket hat pattern!
I like hearing about what you’re doing at different times during the year- I suppose it’s voyeurism into a life that is not working in an office, enjoying things in nature, creating/looking at interesting things (ones that I like too), being your own boss, and appearing really happy with your life. I know your blog is also an outlet for selling your products but you’re kind enough to share the other things you’re doing as well and I appreciate and welcome that.
For sewing patterns- I like quick accessories but really like the skirt patterns too. Your colors for your models have a positive energy about them.
My favorite would be the Alice Book Bag (and a close second would be the reversible bucket hat). I really like the bag because I like things that are useful and I usually have a lot of papers to carry around! It also has a great, solid look to it.
Congrats, both milestones take a lot of effort!
* Behind the scene stories – always interesting to read about the process behind a new design or fabric. It can get a bit intimidating to see designers churn out new products seemingly effortlessly, while I struggle with clean lines, sourcing the right materials etc.
I’m also curious to read more about your green choices.
* As a down to earth practical girl I enjoy your knack to give everyday objects a cute twist. Slippers, bags etc. Smart ideas for gifts come in handy too.
* I’d pick the slingbag for its beautiful curves.
Good luck!
I love your felt stuff especially the tutorials.
I like bags and accessories.
I would choose one of your bag patterns if I won.
1. I like reading about your day-to-day life.
2. I’m always looking for cute accessory patterns.
3. The reversible bucket hat–just what I need for summer!
I enjoy everything on your blog but especially tutorials.
I generally purchase sewing patterns for bags, accessories and clothing.
I love the Caitlyn handbag but would probably pick the Reversible Bucket Hat so I could make one for my mom who loves thos style of hats.
I love your blog but the tutorials are my favorite. I love patterns for gifts and bags. I would choose the Caitlyn bag if I were the lucky winner.
Thank you for taking the time to blog about sewing and knitting.
1. I enjoy reading all your posts. I especially like the ones about repurposing.
2. I am interested in sewing bags and accessories.
3. If I win I would pick the Isabella tote bag because it is so stylish and would be great for my latest knitting project.
Thank you,
Karen
Hi, Betz,
Before I answer your questions, I just wanted to say that I made my first reversible bucket hat and love it! Pics are on my blog (twosheep.com/blog). Thank you for a great pattern.
1) Tutorials are always good, love to see what can be done, the finished object.
2) I’m clothing kind of gal, generally.
3) Of course, now that I said I prefer to sew clothes, the pattern I would choose is the Woodland sewing kit.
1. I like to see what you are making, especially with recycled materials and especially felt–and also when you knit.
2. Bags and accessories are my current interests.
3. The Alice bag is my style, and I already have some big grommets waiting to be used.
Seventeen years is a good start.Congratulations!Marriage is a full time job, thank goodness there are 2 people to share the load. I’m currently working on year 47 and forging onward. Of course at my age I love when you talk of your children journey into your field but, that’s the memere in me.Recycling is important so I venture down that path.If I were to win I’m a huge fan of your cadet hat. Thanks for the six years of goodness.
Congrats on your anniversary!
1. I appreciate your simple diy tutorials (though I know you are limited as to what you can offer for free) and “what I’m working on” posts. (I discovered Mimi Kirchner through your owl project post.) I also like it when you give a “peek” into your workspace. All are very inspiring!
2. Accessories, toys, ornaments, decorations. I do more sewing with felted sweaters than conventional fabrics.
3. The felted slippers – I’m just waiting until my 2-yr-old nephew is old enough to wear them!
Love your blog!

2) I am interested in all types of patterns, but prefer clothing such as skirts, tops, dresses, etc.
3) I would choose either the Spring Sewing Set or the Woodland Sewing Set mainly because I don’t own one and I think it would be lovely to make one for myself.
Thank you for sharing your blog. I recently found the joy that sewing can bring to one’s soul and although I’m still an amateur, I hope that someday I may be as creative and crafty as you.
1) I like the upcycling & ‘green’ sewing
2)I love bags
3) I would choose the Caitlyn Handbag…very cute. (I have the cadat pattern and it is adorable)

2. Accessory and gift patterns
3. Slipper pattern
1. I enjoy reading about your boys and what you are up to personally as well as your sewing and knitting projects.
2.I am interested in clothing/accessories and gift patterns. Not a fan of bags.
3. I would choose the Forest Friends Felted Slippers because I already have the bucket hat pattern. 🙂 I like working with felt and this would be a useful and fun item around our house.
I like to read about all your creative endeavors. I’m especially drawn to up-cycling projects. I have made many things from your book Warm Fuzzies. I have a whole wall of felted sweaters in my craft room. I also have a small collection of ties. Lately I’ve been drawn to cute toys and accessories for little girls, since I have 3 granddaughters. If I won I would pick the Caitlyn Handbag so I could use up some of my ties.

Thanks for the giveaway!
1) I love your tutorials, your repurposing, and seeing what sewing you do with your boys (my 3 girls sew, but I wonder about my tail-ender boy).

I love your blog and am inspired by how much you accomplish with 2 boys! Keep the awesome blog rolling!!
1) I love the tutorial blog posts
2) Accessories
3) Reversible bucket hat
1. Not sure I have a favorite type of post that you write. You do a great job of putting in a good mix of it all – crafts, ideas, work, family. Sharing things you are working on is fun, I liked seeing what you did with your improv piecing experiment.
2. I have a thing about bags. I love to think about making them (unfortunately I think about far more than I make). Your patterns show so many great fabric combos.
3. I love the Spring Sewing Set pattern.
This was fun.
1. I love it when you do a book review. I first heard about the book “Sewing School” from your blog, and it was a huge inspiration to me this past trimester with our homeschool hand sewing class!
2. I am interested in gifts. Most of what we make in our home is made to give to others. I really like your posts that have lots of pictures and detailed instructions. I love it when crafters talk about what they learned through their trial runs of doing a project for the first time, and how to make it better. You did this with the Fabric Star Ornament tutorial. I love how you put it together with 4 different fabrics, it made it so much easier to understand the pictures. English was a nice touch too, haha.
3. I would choose a bag, just not sure which one. I like the first one, because you once made it out of ties (which I have a ton of), but I fear it may be too hard for me.
Keep up the good work!
Faith.
1) I love your tutorials and post about sewing green.
2) I love to sew pillowcases, small gifts like lavender saches, mugrugs…
3) I would love the Caitlin Handbag – it’s so beautiful and I have fabric in similar colours at home.
Thank you for your lovely blog, it’s realy inspiring!
I enjoy your tutorials and your new patterns.
I am most interested in bag patterns.
If I win I would choose the Alice Book Bag because I have not yet sewn with grommets.
I like reading about what you are doing and new ideas (or things) you have or have heard about. I am mostly interested in bag and toy patterns. The pattern I would choose is the tote bag because I am a “bag fiend”. Plus they are easier for me to sew. RAV ID: Tanknit
1) I like the repurposing, and (especially) your use of colour. You are very inspirational, and when I got your first book a few years ago it provided me with a new impetus to create with my hands – which has made me very happy.
2) I mostly crochet rather than sew at the moment, but do make little things for gifts.
3) I would choose the bucket hat – my children all have large heads and fair skin, so I’d love to be able to customise sun hats for them (and upcycle fabric in the process!)
1) I always enjoy reading about what you’re makingdoing project wise.
2) I’m a bag girl. I LOVE bags. Gifts and accessories – especially if they are different than anything else out there are always good too!
3) I would pick the Caitlyn Handbag Pattern. I like the shape and the details of this bag. The book bag would be a close second… I love messengers!
Happy anniversary – and Happy Mother’s Day!
1. I like entries that are full of heart, and photos. I often get inspiration from pictures.
2. I would love to see more patterns for children specifically, little boy clothes!
3. The cadet cap is so cute! I have coveted it a long time.
At the risk of adding to my ridiculously long To Sew List, I’ll enter. I like reading about everything. On your blog and others, I really enjoy a good bit of business & making, plus a little personal to round it out.
For sewing patterns, which I’m trying to ignore (see above), I think bags, household stuff, gifts, accessories.
I try to decide between the bucket hat & the sidekick sling.
I particularly enjoy reading about what youd o with upcycled sweaters. So creative! I like the gift item patterns and the bags, too. If I won I’d struggle to pick between the Olive Swing Bag and the Caitlyn Handbag!
1-I love your tutorials, seeing your knitting projects and your new shoes. 🙂
2-favorites are tote bags & purses.
3-I would choose your Stitch-along Tote.
I like reading anything about your design process or any of your creative pursuits. Stories about day-to-day life are fun too, like a sneak peek into someone’s life! I seem to prefer sewing accessories, mostly tote bags, although at this point even I have to admit I have a large collection. Still, I think I would choose the Stitch-Along tote or sling tote – they both look like fun projects.
I don’t think I have a favorite of your posts but I do like it when you show the process of how your ideas take off and become something wonderfull!
I love purse patterns… can’t have enough purses….
I would pick the sidekick pattern
… And Happy Anniversary
Thanks for the chance

2) Bags, Hats.
3) Bucket Hat 🙂

I would pick the Cadet cap – I have had my eye on that pattern for a while!
1 – my favorite posts are on creative projects
2 – the patterns that interest me most are the wearables clothes, bags, hats
