When you don’t have any arms, sweaters can be downright awkward to wear. A capelet will keep you warm while leaving your flippers free! This is a tutorial for making a Mini Capelet for Slippy and Slide the Wildlife with Love™ Seals. To make the mini capelets, all you need is some felted wool sweater ribbing and a bit of ribbon or cording.

First cut a rectangle out of the ribbing measuring 7″ W x 8″ L for the adult and 4.5″ W x 7″ L for the baby. Cut 2 ties for each capelet, measuring 7″ long. Stitch each tie to the sides of the rectangle about 2″ from the top edge for the adult and 1″ from the top edge for the baby.

Lay the capelet onto the back of the seal, then fold down the “collar” at the point where the ties are attached. Tie the ties into a bow at the neck. Now you’ve got 2 super-snuggly seals. Cute! See my last post for the Mini Hat and Scarf tutorial.
