Now that it’s June I’ve got gift giving on my mind. It’s time to honor our kids’ teachers and fathers as school wraps up and Father’s Day is coming soon!
Follow my tutorial (one of my earliest!) to make a Caterpillar Eyeglass Case. It’s shown made with a felted wool sweater, but you can also use regular wool blend felt. If your kids like to help make the teacher gifts like mine do, you could ask your child to draw a picture or write a thank you to tuck inside the case. If they’re a little older and handy with a needle, they might like to hand stitch the appliqué.
For a great Dad gift, check out my tutorial for a Firewood Sling made from a canvas tote. It’s great for gathering firewood on camp outs. Kids can help decorate it with a little fabric paint, too. (hand prints, stamping, stenciling, etc) I’ve also got a handy BBQ Apron tutorial if the dads on your list are grill masters!
What kinds of gifts do you like to give teachers and fathers?

This year I made my son’s teacher a set of fabric grocery totes and some handmade note cards. I wasn’t there when she opened they but I hope she liked them!
Very generous! I’m sure they were appreciated.
