This past Thursday I turned in my manuscript for the book that I’ve been working on for the past too-many months. Yippee! In honor of that immense accomplishment, we left for a 4 day camping trip to Deep Creek Lake State Park in Maryland. We canoed, hiked, had yummy camp food and slept in tents. My husband and boys go camping with the Boy Scouts all of the time but it had been a few years since our family camped together. It was great to be together, just the 4 of us, especially for me after a summer of big deadlines and too much work! We did have some rain but we managed to find some other things to do, like visit Smiley’s Fun Zone and Candyland, USA!
I highly recommend a getaway like this after completing a huge project! I feel completely reset, refreshed and ready to move forward with new things. Well, after I get through this big pile of smelly camp laundry! 🙂
I’m all for rewarding myself after a lot of work, but I must admit that for me, this would involve a comfortable hotel room!
Well, I admit that a comfortable hotel room wasn’t too far from my mind…maybe next time! 😉
Looks like a lovely trip…I’ve become a hotel snob, and prefer my own bedding (sleeping bag and pillow) and a tent. ♥ Nature.
Congrats in finishing the book!!!
And I haven’t been able to get that top photo out of my mind since you posted it on IG. So dreamy.
Thanks! It feels great to be done-ish! Yes, that foggy morning was dreamy. It was at that point during camping when you really feel like your campsite is as familiar as home.
