I spent most of the week with a bad cold, feeling not-so-productive. Today the fog lifted and I finally feel more like myself…good enough to sew! I forced myself to take care of some bookkeeping and a few other neglected things then gave myself permission to make something fast and cute!

I whipped up this little bag using the Leather Accent Fold-over Clutch PDF pattern by LBG Studio. I made a few mods to it and I’m super happy with how it turned out! I happened to have a bright orange zipper with shiny brass teeth in my stash and  I knew it would be perfect on this clutch. (I also knew that this clutch would be perfect with my new red sandals. Ha!)

The pattern is written to have fun leather accents on the bottom corners. Instead I opted to make the full front of the clutch out of printed canvas from Robert Kaufman and the back with grey waxed canvas. When the clutch is folded  you can see both fabrics. I like having the waxed canvas (that’s water resistant and shows less dirt) on the outer flap where the clutch will be held.

Of course it can be folded in the opposite direction if you like the look of the print on the flap…and you have clean hands. 🙂 As you can see this is a very simple and versatile style. This pattern is one of 20 in the Sew Fab Pattern Sale available  for just a few more days. Visit my earlier post for details and images of all of the Sew Fab patterns.
