I recently heard that May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. As someone who has had a basal cell carcinoma removed from her face years ago, I wanted to do a little Public Service Announcement about it. Wear a hat, please!
We all are at risk for sun damage, whether you are pale a freckly like me or not. I love the sun on my face and the sun-kissed look of a tan just as much as the next person, but if it means a trip under the knife (or worse), no thank you!
Wearing a hat can sometimes be a challenge, so I thought I’d give you a little motivation. Right now over on Instagram I’m running a little giveaway! Well, actually 3 giveaways. Each one is for a free Reversible Bucket Hat pattern and some organic fabric to make one with!
You’ll need to sign up for Instagram and follow me. (Instagram is a lot of fun and I post a lot of things that I’m doing/making etc that don’t always get posted here on the blog.)
To enter the giveaways: leave a comment on Instagram (not this blog post) and tag a friend in your comment. If you both follow me on Instagram, you are entered! (If you’ve been tagged, you’ll need to leave your own comment and tag someone else) I will draw a winner from the commenters at midnight EST on Saturday May 24.
If that sounds like too much to remember, just check out my Instagram feed and you’ll see the instructions again in the 3 giveaway posts. Feel free to enter all three!
By the way, my Reversible Bucket Hat pattern is sized to fit all kids and adults, so you can make them for the whole family! Be ready for summer, have fun and be safe. 🙂
I remember you coming to work with a big band aid on your nose-yeeks-at
work, where we were all to look so cool and collected and the designers……
Scott had skin cancer and it has taken some good people in my life…..your message is welcomed and important-and your hats are a great answer…..
Be well and keep on creating….
