Introducing Juxtaposey, my new fabric collection with Riley Blake! For the last few weeks I’ve been posting behind the scenes photos of my new collection on Instagram. Now I’m thrilled to be able to share the full reveal with you!Juxtaposey title

Juxtaposey is a juxtaposition of florals and other motifs drawn from textile influences from around the world. I love the stitching and textures of handwork from different cultures. The interesting thing is, the more I look and learn about them, the more I see similarities between them. Flower shapes, certain stitches, placed motifs, border prints, etc. To design Juxtaposey, I took a virtual trip around the globe and interpreted what I saw through my own lens then gave it a little stylistic spin.

In regards to color palette I went bold and deep. Saturated hues grounded with dark navy and clean white really sing to me! I developed 3 color palettes that all blend and play nice with each other. The first based on warm red and aqua/turquoise. The next is clean and bright, with loads of white and fuchsia, and the third really plays with navy and a shot of bright acidic green. I really can’t decide which is my favorite. But I guess there is no need to since they mix and match so well with each other.

In addition to my quilting cotton prints, Riley Blake has expanded their wool solids to include brights that happily coordinate with Juxtaposey! I’m super excited about this and have so many project ideas in mind. I’ve got some beautiful floss picked out from Sue Spargo and I’m ready to sew and stitch up a storm! Later this month I’ll be sharing my projects and more!
