Happy Monday! I hope you’ve gotten started on the backstitch portions of your Dragonfly for the Entomologie Stitch-along. Please feel free to email me or comment on this post with any questions you may have.

Today is Day 4 and we’ll continue stitching, this time learning the Chainstitch! Here’s a quick little video to get you started:

Entomologie SAL chainstitch 1

I used the chainstitch on the body of the Dragonfly. It gives it a nice raised texture that’s almost a little lacy.

Entomologie SAL chainstitch 3

I also used the chainstitch along the center line of the Upper Wings. The little “spokes’ radiating out of the chainstitch are each 2 backstitches. I did the chainstitch first, then marked the spokes from each link with a disappearing ink pen before backstitching them.

You can see on the Lower Wings I’ve added French Knots! The video tutorial for those is coming on Wednesday so stay tuned for that! How are your bugs coming along? Be sure to tag it with #entomologiestitchalong on Instagram!
