If you know me at all, you know I love wool, yarn, stitching and warm feet!  So what better project is there to make than these cozy espadrille shoes?!

Embroidered wool espadrille DIY

I’ve collaborated with Melissa of A Happy Stitch to bring this pretty crewel embroidered project. If you’re not aware, Melissa is the Queen of Espadrilles making and has a monthly Artist Series on her site. My design is available in kit form in her shop, just for the month of February!

My contribution to the kit is crewel embroidery design and instruction. I get you started with the design transfer and stitching techniques. Melissa picks it up from there with cutting, sewing and constructing the shoes! Everything is beautifully packaged as an all inclusive kit with wool fabric, lining, yarn, tools…basically everything you’ll need to make your very own.

Have you tried embroidery with tapestry wool? I LOVE IT and you will be seeing more of it from me, that’s for sure. You can follow all of my basic embroidery video how-to’s using crewel or tapestry wool and a chenille needle instead of regular floss. Easy peasy!

Be sure to check out my latest video tutorial for the Woven Wheel Rosette, above. They are so fun to stitch and look fantastic using tapestry wool. So full of texture and dimension. Let me know if you have any questions!
