Happy February! I’ve been playing a little more with my Cricut Explore Air 2 cutting machine and glitter mesh vinyl. Both are perfect for making Valentines!

Cricut Valentine Card tutorial

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.

You might remember my Stitchable Glitter Ornament Tutorial that I did at the end of last year. This is a similar concept using the same materials:

  • Cricut Glitter Mesh Iron-on Vinyl
  • Wool Blend Felt
  • Embroidery Floss
  • Blank card and envelope

For tools you’ll need a Cricut Explore Air 2 or Maker, glue stick, decorative scissors and an embroidery needle.

I started by rolling out a piece of Cricut Glitter Iron-on Mesh onto a standard grip cutting mat. Place the plastic liner side down.

Next I used the shape tool in Design Space to make 3″ and 2″ hearts and used the Air Explore to cut them out.

“Weed” away the negative space leaving just the hearts. Peel the liner and hearts off of the mat and cut the liner to separate the hearts.

Trim glitter heart

Glitter side down, iron each heart to a pice of wool blend felt. Remove the liner. Next trim the felt with scalloped or pinking shears.

Next, thread your needle with embroidery floss. Use the perforations as a guide to stitch words or any design you’d like. I used a backstitch to stitch little heart outlines in purple and white floss.

Once you’re done stitching, use a glue stick to attach your felt hearts to a blank card. I overlapped a 3″ and a 2″ heart.

Cute! This would be a super easy project for kids too. The little holes in the mesh make it so easy! They remind me of the sewing cards I played with as a kid. Do you remember those?
