Hi, I am a robot. I just moved with my family into a new house. My mom keeps unpacking these great boxes. I don’t really care too much about what was packed inside, I just want the box. I have to be fast though. As soon as they are empty, Mom flattens them right away. She sighs a lot when I say I want them for projects. She says she’s trying to get rid of them. I tell her I am getting rid of them for her by making them into Pokemon Playsets, Transformer things, and this robot suit.
So, what do you think of my robot suit? Do you see that button on the front? The one that says “Do Not Push”? Don’t push it. Besides, it doesn’t really push exactly, since it is just a milk cap taped to the front. I like wearing my robot suit around even though I bump into things. It’s ok, I am protected.
This thing I’m holding is my Ultra Staff. It has special powers, such as freezing things, shooting lightning, and making giant waves of lava. I think I freaked out the cable guy.
I’m going to Kindergarten next week. I’m the last one, you know. It’s kind of a big deal, I guess. At least my mom thinks so.
Ok, well, it’s almost 4:00 so I’m gonna go now. That’s when my mom lets my brother and I watch TV. Bye!
Now you are all set for Halloween! One year my mom made us a car out of a box. We wore it around via suspenders over our shoulders. We had some great demolition derbies in our back yard that summer.
I have pictures of my husband doing the exact same thing when he was little. They are my favorite childhood pictures of him. Make sure you save these to embarrass him with 20 years from now. 🙂
Does your robot do chores? None of mine do without reminders…Your house looks bright and sunny. You are missing a full week of all-out rain in Madison. I mean non-stop rain. Kindergarten for your youngest is a very bittersweet moment in time. I am still getting over it 3 years later.
Take care!
SOOOOOO Cute! Love the button in the front- cutie pie!!!
No way! You have got to go see the “The Humans Are Dead” bit by The Flight of the Conchords on YouTube.
One of the clips, not the live one, shows the singers in silver robot costumes much like this one. I’ve had that song stuck in my head for two days straight now (don’t really know the words). There are a couple of swear words in there though, I think, so preview.
Great costume! I think my husband and I might be cardboard robots for Halloween this year.

I like it…a lot…
I need some ultrastuff.
My 2-year old son and I were looking at Country Living this morning (for some reason he loves looking at magazines with me!) and we came across the page with your beautiful pincushions. I just had to look up your website and found your blog. i am so inspired by all your beautiful creations! And, I just LOVED the robot since it looked so much like something that might show up in our house!
Thank you!
Wonderful!
He is so very ready for kindergarten!
i have just posted a very similar photo on my blog of my youngest, who’s 2, in a cardboard robot our daughter made : )
What an adorable story, your son is a craft whizz-kid just like mommy 🙂 He looks so cool, I’m sure he’ll settle into Kindergarten in no time.
