Last night I received an unexpected gift. My friend told me she had 2 boxes of wool for me to look through before it got tossed. Her aunt’s in-laws went into assisted living and moved out of their home. The mother-in-law was a quilter…with quite a large stash of wool!
This is only about one sixth of the haul! This woman had two GIANT boxes (organized by color, no less) of wool suiting, sweaters, piece goods, old garments, etc.
I sorted out the sweaters from the other fabrics and washed them. I’m loving the resulting rainbow!
Ahh…the power of craft. I love that these fabrics, that were so lovingly collected for goodness-knows-how-many years, will go on to be crafted by the next generation. I’ve got to write that sweet crafty woman a note of gratitude and let her know that her cherished materials are in good hands!
yay for wool treasures!!!
Isn’t it wonderful when old things get lovingly recycled?
I can imagine the delight and relief that woman will feel, knowing that someone has lovingly taken on her materials and that beautiful things will be made (as she always intended)…
