Let’s see… three days away, two of them will be traveling. What to wear. Something comfy, but nice. Got my knitting. Long flight, need books and iPod. Bag? What bag to bring. Shoes? Always a challenge. I hate packing. Gives me a knot in my stomach. Or maybe it’s my need to plan out everything just so…
I can’t go into detail about the trip just yet. It’s a good thing for sure, but taking off by myself during the first week of the kids being back in school is a little stressful. So what am I doing? Am I stuffing things into my suitcase? No, I decided to photograph my compulsive stacks and complain. And blog about it.
I do have to laugh at myself though, every time I grab this shirt. I love this shirt. I bought it from JCrew a few years ago. When I need to wear something nice but not feel too dressed up, this is the top. I even wore it in my “author” photo! My kids are even tuned in to it. Mom must be going somewhere, she has her sunflower shirt on.
So…I’m off to run errands before I go, lest I leave the family without peanut butter and goldfish crackers. Have a fab holiday weekend coming up and I’ll pop in early next week with my whirlwind trip behind me!
JC Crew? Looks like the shirt is made with Liberty flowers! Love it!
Celia,
Yes! It is a Liberty floral, good eye! I also bought a scarf in it, I love the print so much, but I don’t wear it as often as the shirt. đ
I’m a compulsive packer, too. First I make lists, then I pile the stuff from the lists on my bed, then I sort them around to be sure that my lists were what I actually wanted, then I carefully roll everything and pack it (emphasis on PACK) into the smallest suitcase possible.
Don’t worry, your family will be devastated for about fifteen minute after you leave. When you return, they’ll be ecstatic and you’ll have a lovely little celebration. In between, they’ll only notice you’re gone if they run out of PB and goldfish.
By the way, love the shirt. Only I want to cut it up and put it in a quilt…
can’t wait to hear more about your trip! I have a “going out” shirt like that too!!
Hi Betz. I have been a long time lurker on your site but do not think I have ever commented. I love everything you do and am really inspired. I am a felted wool girl too! Did I by chance see an owl on one of those t-shirts. I have a thing for owls right now.
Have a good time on your trip…cant wait to hear whats up next.
In all joking, my daughter is a bit OCD about packing too. She’s packing for 7 months in Germany and is leaving on the 3rd. đ Winter clothes, spring clothes, summer clothes….only two 50 lb bags….only 1 carry on less that 14 lbs!!! What’s a girl to do??? She’s been a wreck, but calming as she puts it in the bag and then weighs everything.
Hope you have a good trip….hey if you are near Columbia, we really must meet. I’m in western Howard County. I know MD is a big place but when anyone moves here from out of town it’s almost always a gov’t job or contract….anyway, just thought I’d say a big welcome to MD even though you’ve been here a while.
Have a lovely trip…if it’s a lovely kind or else just have a nice trip!

oh i wish i had a 4-inch square of all my mother’s shirts she’s worn over the years. some she bought in stores or online, some were hand-made by me or a friend. now that i live out here in PA and she is back in ID, i miss seeing her printed shirts (and her too).
