How was your weekend? I never left the house, literally from Friday afternoon until this morning. Ahhhh. I didn’t spend the entire weekend in bed but I did get 10 hours of sleep Saturday night. I can’t remember the last time that has happened.
There is so much to do in the next month, isn’t there? Aside from the holidays, we’ve got birthdays for both kiddos coming up in December. Sheesh, poor family planning on our part. And like most crafters that sell their work, I am trying to balance creating work for my shop with making gifts for my family and friends.
I spent some quality time with my youngest (who is feeling better, thank you for asking!) making some accessories for his girl cousins. He’s so thoughtful and what an eye for color. I love to hear him pick out fabrics and remark about the “texture”. Too cute. (he was my knitter this past summer) He’s got very particular ideas, that boy.
The spider-looking thing is a hair elastic with “sweater seams” slip knotted around it. (He’s 6 and was able to do this completely by himself.) This can be done with ribbons or fabric strips as well. I save the seams off my felted sweaters, as you may remember. He tells me it is to be worn as a bracelet, but I was thinking of it more as a pony tail holder. đ The two pink flowers are hair clips. And my favorite is the caterpillar barrette! How cute it that? He had the idea and chose the materials, I helped with assembly. That takes care of a few family members…
I also managed to restock my etsy shop with some stockings and scarves. Stop by if you need to check a few people off your list! By the way, my Customer Appreciation Give-away is still in swing. Buy anything in the shop until midnight Thanksgiving to be eligible to win!
Look at these scarves…just hanging out like girlfriends on the park bench. Each with it’s own personality…
And I must say, if no one buys this brown and red beauty, I’ll be happy to hang onto it. Lovin’ the brown and red this season!
I’m LOVING that scarf with the flowers on it…have me a sweater just like it in burgundy…gives me an idea… hmmm… LOL like I’ll ever get time! Christmas is creeping up!
đ thanks for sharing!

What a cute inchworm!! Glad you all had a nice relaxing weekend…those are the best, when you don’t HAVE to be somewhere!
Happy Thanksgiving đ
I love the scarves, brilliant colour combinations.x
Everything is so cute! : )

I’ve been wearing brown tights with my new red Naots. I was excited to see the brown and red scarf on your blog. So sad it’s gone… đ
Love the cute stockings, scarves and “girl cousin gifties”. What a talented young man you have! I also LOVE the turned wood pieces I get glimpses of in your photos. Is that the work of a family member? I enjoy your blog. Happy Thanksgiving, Lana Scottsboro, AL
What a cutie caterpillar! I’m such a sucker for anything with googly eyes.
The stockings are so cute and inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
I just had the weirdest moment… The scarf on the right of that picture uses bits of a sweater I own! The one with the embroidered flowers! Mine has a grey background, not dark brown, but it was just so weird to recognize a sweater bit!
Love the inchworm!! So many beautiful colors and items for Xmas….so fun!
Ohhh I don’t know which I love the best … scarves, hair accessories, the stockings … they are all gorgeous! I think my personal favourite is the blue and cream stocking though, it is sooo pretty!
I love those stockings!
Betz – This is my first comment, though I’ve read your blog for probably a year now.
I recently got your Warm Fuzzies book, have felted some great sweaters and want to make Christmas stockings. My concern though is that my felted sweaters seem much thicker than what yours look like in the book.
I’m a fairly new sewer, and am afraid to start actually sewing! 2 layers together seem way too thick. I’m also assuming I need to use a needle for heavier fabric. Do you have any tips for those 2 issues? I have a new, “basic” Singer model machine.
Thank you so much. I love your blog!
Hi Chris,
Sweaters felt to different degrees of thickness. If you look at the pink/purple fair isle stocking on the book, it is pretty thick! The best thing to do is just try sewing. Use a longer stitch length for thick felt. I still just use a regular universal needle. Most felt with smoosh down once you get sewing.
There are times when SUPER thick felt is too boardy and stiff. You should be able to tell if it’s going to be unmanageble and unattractive. You might want to practice sewing a few seams with scraps just to get used to it.
Let me know how it goes!

Always love hearing how your boys get involved. Your six year old has quite an eye! I really appreciated hearing your thoughts on balance around the holidays. Our family has two December B-days, as well. A handmade holiday is very important to us, so finding ways to make it all happen takes some planning. Phew! 10 hours of sleep sounds mighty fine right now! đ Happy Thanksgiving!
I speak english a little bit but congratulation for your ideas !
