Although we didn’t take a spring break trip as a family this year, apparently I took one from the blog for a bit! Between having the kids out of school, Easter, spring cleaning and some serious print designing, I’ve been busy! And although I may not be doing a lot of sewing at the moment, I do spend a lot of time thinking about it.
Earlier this month at the Mod Mid-Atlantic Retreat, I was able to get a little sewing time in. I took a stab at Liesl and Co’s Cappuccino top. It’s been a long time since I’ve sewn a garment for myself. I managed to make it too small (drat!) and had some quality issues with the shot cotton I used (rats!) but look at that purdy neckline! That’s Daisy Janie’s organic cotton fabric from her Daisies ‘n Such collection.
I do like the top pattern so I’m planning to use this pretty Tula Pink voile for the next one I make with this yummy cherry red organic cotton from Robert Kaufman for the neckline. I’ll keep you posted!
Next in line is to make something with this delicious organic cotton from Alabama Chanin. I got this medium weight jersey a while ago and have so far only made a cowl with it. I have some plans for some spring tops. I really want some baseball t’s and am thinking about this pattern from called the Trifecta Top by Kitschy Coo or maybe the Lane Raglan by Hey June. I also like this Wildflower Top by Blank Slate Fabrics and the Coco dress and top that is all over the internet!
I can’t wait to get sewing but I still have one big thing on my plate this week to get through first…my “author review” for my 3rd book! This is an intense week of pouring over the layout, photos, and every word of the book one last time before it goes to print. Eep! I haven’t blogged to much about the book yet since it’s not out until fall 2014, but you can get a little sneaky peek over on Amazon!
What are you sewing this spring?
