May 1, 2006 was my very first blog post. And here I am 10 years and 1024 posts later! I can hardly believe it. It’s time to celebrate, don’t you think?
For the month of May I’m hosting a Cupcake Party here on the blog, since it was that renowned felted wool cupcake pincushion that really “started it all” for me. All month we’ll be celebrating with special guest posts, projects, recipes and give-aways. Yay!
Let’s start by taking a trip down memory lane!
This was what my website homepage looked like when my blog began. Sweet and simple! Oh 2006, you were so young and naive. And so was I, haha.
Here we are in late 2007 after my book, Warm Fuzzies came out. I had been on the Martha Stewart show earlier that year. (You can still watch the video of my segment here!) What a wild, amazing time! And it all began with these crazy cupcakes. Who knew? I sure didn’t.
Here we are in 2009 when I designed and self-produced my first fabric collection and my second book, Sewing Green was published.
Over the years there’s been several re-designs of my site, logo, tagline, colors and blog as my business started, grew, and evolved. And I’m sure there will be nothing but more change in the future! (Special thanks to my husband taking on the website design portion of my business…and so much more!)
Thanks for being part of my journey. I hope you’ll join me in celebrating this month with the Cupcake Party! Stay tuned for more this week!
Those cupcakes are still cute!!! 🙂
I think so too, thanks!
What a wonderful time it has been! Congrats on your many, many accomplishments and more to come! Cindy
Thanks so much Cindy!
How exciting! Congrats on 10 years!
Thank you!
I still make those cupcakes as gifts from time to time! Congratulation on 10 years!
That’s awesome!
Congratulations!
I love those cupcakes – and I have (and enjoy) both of your books. Congratulations on 10 years!
Thanks, Peggy!
In late 2006 my father was diagnosed with ALS and at the time I had no idea what a blog was… by 2008 I was an avid reader of your blog after a felt crafting friend told me about you…I fell in love with those cupcakes! My father took a turn for the worse and he was cold all the time. You taught me how to felt sweaters and cut them and how to make them into a quilt for him to sleep under. He said it was so light that it didn’t weigh heavy on his body–but so warm. He slept under it until his passing day. So many years later, I am an avid fabric quilter but still enjoy dabbling in felted wool every once in a while. I credit you with my start on this journey of crafting that was once therapy for my father and is now continual therapy and rejuvenation for myself. Thank you for putting yourself out there and sharing your craft. You have accomplished much more than you realize 🙂
Oh Kelly! What a bittersweet story. Thank you so much for sharing it, that means a lot to me. Crafting is truly magical in so many ways. xoxo b

Congrats ! Thanks for sharing with us!
I remember seeing you on MS for the first time! The cupcakes still thrill me with their cuteness! It got me into reading blogs and learning crafts on the computer. So happy but knew you would be around for a very long time. Good work and Happy Anniversary to you!
