This month my new print collection, Juxtaposey, is shipping to stores! One of the prominent motifs in my prints is the llama. What is it about llamas? They’re so adorable! And I have a long history of llama llove! (You can read about the full inspiration to the collection in this post)
When I was about 6 or 7 years old, one of my family members traveled to Peru and brought back a small stuffed llama for me. I named her Llama Mama. She’s knit with natural wool yarns and has a wire armature inside the legs for posing. My favorite thing, though, are the colorful tassels on her ears. The whole thing is a little faded and worse for wear, but I still have it and love my Llama Mama!
Last holiday season I paid homage to Llama Mama with my Fa La La La Llama Ornament pattern. It’s made out of felt and has embroidery floss for ear tassels.
This spring I’m working on a new llama pillow design! Here’s a little sneak peek for you….
As you can see, I’m combining my Juxtaposey quilting cottons with the new bright wool solids from Riley Blake!
And guess what? EAR TASSELS! They are totally on trend for spring, I’m telling you. I’m working on writing up this pattern over the next few weeks and I hope to have it available for purchase soon! I hope you love llamas as much as I do…because there’s an even bigger llama-paloosa coming up!
Can I buy the pattern for the patchwork lama pls?
Yes! It’s available in my shop. Thanks!
